Me and daeka here reppin the 6400+
AMD totally beats Intel in the sub-200 market. The intel equivalent of the 6400+ is like 40 to 50 dollars more. Mine isn't the black edition though... I'm not much of an overclocker. But the 6400+ is 3.2 stock, so I guess you aren't either?

Ya, I only overclocked it once. had it at 3.8 but that was before I had the thermaltake cooler, just haven't bothered to reclock it.

Hey Wrothgar nice to see you got a PC that helps you run AoC the way it was meant to run!
Also how soon after you bought your PC from Gateway did they add that monitor deal? Sometimes places will hook you up with those deals if you purchased your item within a specificed amount of time. For example I got a 34" Sony HDTV from circuit city for $900. A week later they dropped it $100 and gave me the difference when I brought back my receipt.

Eh it was a couple days. I really wouldn't want to pay money for a 17" though. If I get another monitor it'll be 20" at the very least.

Well depending on their policy you wouldn't have to pay ANY extra money and you get a FREE monitor! you could then sell that monitor and use the cash for the 20". Just call best buy and tell them that a few days later after you bought the system they changed the deal. It may be worth a try.

well technically the monitor isn't free, it's just a bundle deal so I don't think the store will do anything at this point, but it doesn't hurt to call.

Just ordered - need to flaunt
After pissing around with what I want for a couple of weeks, I finally ordered my new system yesterday. Here's what I'm upgrading from:
Athlon X2 4200+
2 gig Corsair PC4000 RAM
DFI LP UT NF4 Expert motherboard
ATI 4850 X2 512 MB video
Creative SB X-Fi (one of those models...)
WD Raptor 150gb boot
Antec Sonata case
Other drives and whatnot
Running XP Prof.
Here's what I'm going to:
Intel Core i7 940 Nehalem 2.93GHz
EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) (x2 for 12GB)
Intel X25-M SSDSA2MH080G1 80GB SATA Internal Solid state disk (SSD)
CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W PS
COOLER MASTER HAF 932
Keeping my 4850 X2 for now until I see what I want to do for SLI later
Keeping my SB X-Fi
Going to Vista 64-bit... have to see how this does
I have a QNAP TS-209 PRO II (gigabit ethernet) with 1.5 TBmirrored for my storage so I don't really care much about the space on the boot drive.
With some luck it gets here Weds, maybe Thurs if they take their time shipping.
Perhaps I'll put up some photos of this thing when it's all done.

I have a decent rig now but man I wish I could afford somethinglike that. Those new Core i7 chips are supposed to be way fast and combined with the DDR3 RAM and the SSD boot drive that thing will really fly.
I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit on my machine and have been for quite some time and I haven't had any issues with it at all and the DX-10 graphics and being able to use more than 3 GB of RAM effectively are definately worth it in my opinion.

My only problem is this is only 80gigs and mega expensive. $350+? Hate for it to turn into a $300 brick after a few months. Cost performance wise id still go 32mg cache 7200/10k Rpm Raid-0 for much much less and you'll have gobs of space. Also keep in mind that less then 500meg-1g of free space regardless of HD size is needed for pagefile. 80 gigs will not cut it anymore unless you plan on using a Ext 1TB Harddisk to drive all your music/movies/etcetc.
Imho..not worth it..everything else is nice
PS- also it being EPROM-ish you can lose data overtime from static discharges or power flux.
