Q) What MMO do you currently have the most interest in playing?
A) Warhammer. I've dropped my other games as it is too time consuming (not to mention the monthly fees for multiple games add up...)
Q) Have you read our Code of Conduct and Forum Rules?
A) Yep.
Q) Are you at least 18 years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A) Yep. 33 to be sort of exact (i'm not calculating minutes, hours, days, and months in; I have to maintain some mystique here...)
Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A) I've looked at several of them. Nice application process!
Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) None. I've spoken to a member about the guild but I wasn't recruited per se. I'm at work so I could get this spelled incorrectly but I spoke to Vargr. If that's not exactly right, my apologies!
Q) Name: [planned in game/forum name]
A) In game, I have Rydley, Rollins, and Dryana. Sorcerer, Chosen, and Magus respectively. Forum name will likely be Rydley.
Q) Gender: [female, male]
A) Male
Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) I did a little research through the Warhammer forums to review guilds that posted information. I've also asked questions to various guild members online to get a feel for the type of members recruited and guild philosophy from actual members.
Q) Are you currently in any other AoC, LOTRO, or Warhammer guilds?
A) None. I'm monogamous. If i join a guild, I stick with it unless their are extenuating circumstances such as the guild breaks apart or the member base decides to go in a direction i'm not interested in. This mostly pertains to way to many instance runs and making the game more of a job than a fun time to hang with friends online.
Q) Have you applied to any other guilds?
A) No. I'm looking for a specific culture that I can be a part of and contribute too. Joining any old guild is easy and usually very unrewarding. I want to meet good people and enjoy my gaming experience (not to mention contributing to others' positive experiences as well!).
Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) Leroy Jenkins is my idol. Is that bad... ?? :-). And for the record, NO, i've never actually done that. I tend to have a somewhat dry and self deprecating sense of humor. My previous guildmates would say I kept it at an audience appropriate level and always positive. I'm a glass is half full type person but not obnoxiously so; I enjoy life and people. I think (hope?) it shows through my communication with the guild and vent. One final point; I prefer groans to actual laughs. Its a gift really...
Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) I started with EQ a long time ago. Then played Star Wars Galaxies, WOW, and LOTR. I've been a main tank and a main healer through BWL in WOW. I know how to work with my guild mates in instances and in PvP. I have fun and don't take myself or my stats incredibly seriously. If we have serious goals, I work towards them wholeheartedly and will help us to achieve them. If we are futzing around or helping a teammate achieve something (PvP rankings and such), I will help and/or take the necessary hits for the team. I'm a people manager in RL and helping others excel is the most satisfying thing I do (try to do?)... So, I know its not all about me and that's completely cool.
Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other guilds? [let us know!]
A) I've researched various guilds and talked to members of each for those guilds that interested me. I am applying to your guild because your advertised ideals and culture resonate the most with me. If accepted, I am committ so I try to do my homework and make an informed choice. I don't apply to 10 just to see who will accept me.
Q) Please tell a little about yourself, aside from gaming. Perhaps some hobbies, about your work, favorite story etc.
A) I'll start with the basics. I'm 33, married, and without any children at the moment. I'm in the IT industry and manage a global team which is really fascinating and also an incredible pain in the neck. I've had the great luck and opportunity to travel quite a bit for my job and have lived in several other areas such as San Diego and Tokyo.
I love to travel and have been to several countries in Asia (not including Japan where I lived for a while). I've also traveled to New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and have spent quite a bit of time in the Carribean. I've never been to Europe and am aiming to rectify that sometime VERY soon.
From a hobby perspective, I read voraciously; my favorite author overall is Robert Jordan although my favorite book is the unabridged version of the Counte of Monte Cristo. Shogun is also a favorite. I go through cycles though and will read sci fi / fiction, classic literature (War and Peace, Pride and Prejudice, etc), and physics type books (Carl Sagan / Stephen Hawkings). These days, i'm also reading a lot on personal finance and investments (such as how to NOT lose so much money in the market). I despair of ever succeeding at that though... Other hobbies; i play D&D, am a street fighter champ (now that my nemesis moved to London), and don't drink beer. I love wine, rum, and now those Mike's Hard Lemonads (??).
To give an insight into my personality, i've sky dived, bungee jumped, rode a motorcycle (almost got killed on it so my wife told me I couldn't anymore...), scuba dive, and I met my wife playing beach volleyball in San Diego. I have a psychology degree and almost became a psychiatrist. But instead, I went into IT. I don't understand it either but... here we are.
