Q) What MMO do you currently have the most interest in playing?
A) Warhammer Online is the only MMO I'm interested in at the moment.
Q) Have you read our Code of Conduct and Forum Rules?
A) I have read them and agree.
Q) Are you at least 18 years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A)Yeah, 18x2 ... heh. Where has the time gone?
Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A) I have read several of them. I actually read more of the ones that were denied to get some idea of the reasons that you would deny apps. I did this for two main reasons. One was to try not to make the same mistakes those folks did :p. The other was learn more about you and to see if you were denying apps for reasons that I agree would be good reasons to deny someone. (I did agree and understood the reasoning behind the ones I read so that was a good thing)
Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) No sorry. I don't know anybody in the guild yet other than by trolling these forums or reading the recruitment threads in Ten Ton Hammer or Warhammer Alliance. I have seen some members running around, but that's about it.
Q) Name: [planned in game/forum name]
A) I am playing a Black Orc named Oggy and I expect to stay with him for a long time to come. I also have Sorcerer named Sliver, but since I started Oggy poor Sliver hasn't gotten much play time. I think the name Oggy would be nice for a forum name if I am lucky enough to be accepted, if it isn't available then perhaps Sliver would be the way to go.
Q) Gender: [female, male]
A) I am male in real life. I also play male characters in game because I just feel weird trying to "immerse" myself into the game when playing a female toon lol ... uhhmm, yeah, *Forrest Gump voice: That's all I got to say about thaaaat*
Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) I live in Phoenix, AZ.
Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) I first saw a thread about this guild on Ten Ton Hammer some time prior to the preview weekend if I recall correctly. I remember at that time thinking it sounded like the type of guild I would like to join, but didn't follow up on it due to there still being time before the game came out fully to the public and I didn't even know what server I would be playing on. Then about a week ago or so I was browsing the forums at Warhammer Alliance and looked into the guild section of the forums for the server I was playing on and found that, TADA! happy coincidence, I was actually playing on the server where you guys ended up making your home.
I had originally made characters on a different server named Skull Throne when the servers came live, (yes, I was sitting there staring at the server select all morning until the servers appeared on the opening day of the head start) but after I made the different characters I wanted and selected all the names I wanted to secure I tried to log in and it said I was over an hour in queue. That's when I looked down the server select and found Ulthuan.
Q) Are you currently in any other AoC, LOTRO, or Warhammer guilds?
A) No, I am in no other guilds in any game. If I am not accepted here I will most likely stay guildless.
Q) Have you applied to any other guilds?
A) No, I am a one guild kind of a guy. I am very careful about where I decide to make my commitments in games such as this and in life. If I join a guild I will stick with it through thick and thin.
Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) Tommy: "I'm funny how? Funny like a clown? I amuse you? I'm here to f**king amuse you? What do you mean, funny? How am I funny?"
Henry: "You know, how you tell a story."
Tommy: "I don't know. You said it. You said I'm funny. How am I funny? What the f**k is so funny about me? Tell me what's funny."
Lol, sorry, that was just the first thing that came to my mind when I read that question. Some of the dialogue from one of the scenes in the movie "Goodfellas". You can check out the scene right here if you like:
I feel have a good sense of humor. One of the things my father told me long ago was to always try to keep a good sense of humor, and that way of thinking has served me well in life.
Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) Back in the day I bought both Ultima online and EQ1 at the same time when EQ was first coming out. I had not played any MMO up to that point. I felt like I was going to probably like EQ more than UO, but I wanted to try both so I played UO for about two days then loaded up EQ and I never played UO again after that lol. EQ was so great when it first came out. Everyone was trying to help each other and there were so very few greedy/selfish people or people doing unethical things or just being jerks.
Did you know that when EQ first came out if you died all of your stuff stayed on your corpse so it was hard to get your stuff back if you died somewhere dangerous? You could do "/consent" to some other player and they would go down into where ever you died and retrieve your belongings off of your corpse to bring them back to you. People would really do it too, they would go get your stuff for you and give it back to you. (There were no bind on pickup type things) Of course it was only a matter of time before certain people started to take advantage of this, unfortunately. They had to implement corpse dragging instead.
I played DAoC for a couple weeks when it came out, but then went back to EQ1.
I started playing WoW when it was about four months old, and have now switched to WAR.
Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other guilds? [let us know!]
A) I have been around the block, and I know a good guild when I see one. I don't always try to join it when I see one however. Usually there are things that would prevent me from deciding that I want to try to join them such as they often require a certain amount of raiding which I just can't provide anymore. You need to be online at a certain hour and every day raiding etc. I have done the "end game" style of play in both EQ and WoW and, while I still play almost every day, I just can't do that sort of end game style anymore and I have no desire for it either. I don't want my game to be like a second job again (or in my case a third job since I work two right now).
Hammerfist has none of the things in it such as the above mentioned that would keep me from trying to become a member, and at the same time it has good things such as a desire to have mature members and atmosphere and appears to have a good core of members and leadership. This is clearly not a fly by night halfhearted type of guild. I feel like I could have a ton of fun here and also be a contributing member of the guild and these are the types of things I want out of this game.
Q) Please tell a little about yourself, aside from gaming. Perhaps some hobbies, about your work, favorite story etc.
A) Right now I work seven days a week, every week. During the week I have an 8am to 5pm job and on the weekends I work 10pm to 6am on Saturday and Sunday nights. I have been learning the ins and outs of Online Poker recently ... basically been learning that I suck at poker haha.
I spent four years in the Marines and then six years as a commercial fisherman based in Kodiak Alaska in what seems like a different life. Also used to do many other jobs before trying to settle down here like cross country truck driving, bartending, limo driving etc.
Please remember to register here on these forums.
A) Uhh, yeah ... when I was first checking out your forums and reading all of the different apps people put in I kept seeing this question on their apps so I registered with the name Sliver before I ever read the thing in the application thread that said to register AFTER putting in your app so I don't know if I screwed anything up there. I will register again with the name Oggy if needed.
Q) Do you have any questions for us?
A) I am curious, why do you ask what an apps gender is?
A) Warhammer Online is the only MMO I'm interested in at the moment.
Q) Have you read our Code of Conduct and Forum Rules?
A) I have read them and agree.
