Need to buy a new Motherboard

Another update...I ran a chkdsk and the program went crazy. It started deleting a bunch of files and recovering and repairing others...Hopefully that is a good sign.

Uh oh. I had this happen on my 32 bit Vista partition a while ago when I ran the check disk before I defragged and was unable to boot into that partition at all after. I looked around online for a solution with no luck other than booting from another drive/partition and copying anything I wanted to save. I was lucky that I was running a dual boot with 64 bit that I was able to copy everything over to before I formatted the 32 bit partition.

Yeah, I am really leaning towards a complete reformat at this point. Thankfully I save all my music and movies and photos and such on an external USB hard drive.

One other thing I was going to mention is above you said you were running 4 sticks of RAM and there are quite a few motherboards that while they have 4 RAM slots and are rated for up to 8 gb of RAM will have issues if all 4 slots are populated. You may want to look into this as well.

You never know. I haven't heard a whole lot about memory issues with this board. I have heard a lot about data corruption. And I haven't had any problem with the memory I have had in there for a year. If that was the case why would it start now? Oh, and the memdiag came back clean btw. No issues there. The consistent issue that I am seeing is a SATA and c: drive issue.

Just tried to do a Windows repair using my install disc and came back with:

Well...looks like the decision was made for me. Computer no longer recognized the HD. In the middle of reloading the OS now...

Well, the OS reinstall is done. Looks ok so far. I had to reformat all my HDs twice in order to get an install. Updated all my drivers and now I am going to let it run tonight and see what happens. If it goes all night and all day tomorrow I will start reinstalling WAR and WoW and LOTRO and FFXI and Crysis and Warcraft III and yadda yadda yadda tomorrow night.

Well...fixed the SATA issue my reformatting the HD and reloading the OS. Now I have a new issue. Event ID 6008, Memory_Management BSOD. I just sent you an e-mail with the winmsd and event log info Nomad. Leaning towards the PSU yet again. And the memory at this point. Although what I have read about that particular error points more towards the memory not getting the right voltage than the memory being bad, and considering I just ran memtest yesterday for a couple hours with no problems I don't think it's the memory.

On a side note, the computer ran fine for 24 hours and it wasn't until I started playing Warhammer and got into a scenario that it crashed the first time. Also I ran another memtest last night as I went to bed and woke up this morning and it went fine. The computer also stayed on all night last night with no reboot, which it would not have done just a few days ago. It was only when I played memory intensive WAR that I got the issue. I'd hate to spend more money and replace the PSU only to find out I need to replace the memory, and visa versa. Anyone else an IT person and want to help me look through my logs? Giggity!!!

After talking to Nomad this morning I went ahead and ordered the Antec PSU. It will be here tomorrow and hopefully take care of my problem. Oh well. I ended up upgrading more than I had initially planned to. All that's left is to replace the MOBO.

So, I updated to SP1 today and it seems to have fixed my issue. I have been playing all night with no crashes. Finally got to do the new scenario. *Keeps my fingers crossed*

Heh. I was running it on my 32bit system. I had to reload my OS and went to the 64 bit version and ran all my updates but forgot that SP1 doesn't pull through the updater. I had to go out and download it.

On another note, I am getting a pagefile memory error now. I upped my virtual pagefile memory to 6g initial and max. Hopefully that helps.

This seems to be the case for me now. I kept getting memory management BSODs and Page file BSODs last week and I ended up taking out 2 RAM and leaving 2 in there and I have had no problems since. Guess I'll have to upgrade to 2 x 2gb instead of 4 x 1gb. Oh well. I really wanted to rebuild my computer from scratch anyways.
