Q) What MMO do you currently have the most interest in playing?
A)Warhammer Online has stolen my subscription for the foreseeable future.
Q) Have you read our Code of Conduct and Forum Rules?
A)Yes, it's a big part of why I'm applying.
Q) Are you at least 18 years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A) Yes, I'm 22 and in my senior year of college. It's my fifth year, but who's, besides my parents, counting?
Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A)Yeah, I read a bunch of the examples as well as the ordinary approved and some of the denied apps to get a feel for your selection process and who "makes the cut."
Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were
you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) No and No. I must have slipped through the in-game recruiting cracks.
Q) Name: [planned in game/forum name]
A) In game name is usually Blayno or some spelling variation i.e. Blaino, Blaeno, Blaynoe. Forum name will be Blayno.
Q) Gender: [female, male]
A) Alpha male
Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) Orlando, Fl
Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) I went searching all the warhammer forums I could find. Warhammeralliance.com seemed to be the best for guilds and you guys had a commanding presence on it.
Q) Are you currently in any other AoC, LOTRO, or Warhammer guilds?
A) Nope, I'm still a free agent.
Q) Have you applied to any other guilds?
A) No, your my first choice. I hope you feel special.
Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good?
You're a standup comedian you say?
A) I think I'm hilarious. I think even those with the worst opinions of my sense of humor would say I can definitely have my moments.
Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from
some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) Okay ladies and gents, here's the point in the app where I suggest you go for a bathroom break and come back with a drink and a snack.
My first mmo was Final Fantasy XI. Like many other people this was my gateway drug into the genre. I was lured out of my love for the FF series and hooked into what would force me to view even the best of other genres as hollow. I'd say the most noteworthy skills that game taught me were teamwork and the importance of making good choices on group members and guildies. Anyone who's played that game can attest to the fact that there was no soloing past your first few hours of play. Bad groups meant death, death meant exp penalty, exp penalty led to cursing the gaming gods and fits of rage.
I stuck with FFXI for about a year or so and then WOW came out. I had a love-hate relationship with WOW. I have canceled and renewed my subscription like 5 times or so. I'll say I never had the persistance to get to the level cap. The closest I got was 52 when the cap was 60 on my druid. My favorite part of Wow was pvp and if that gave exp like it did in WAR I would almost certainly have hit the cap. My problem with Wow was that no matter how much new content they added, it seemed like a constant grind for exp and that I was playing for hours to do nothing but raise the number by my character's portrait. But enough of the doom and gloom. Wow provided me with a great contrast to FFXI. I took away most of the basics of Wow that every other mmo has seemed to emulate at least some of.
I dabbled in a bunch of other MMOs in between my time in Wow. I played Ragnorak online on a private server until it was shut down. I played Guild Wars and LOVED the pvp in it. However, once you get past the pvp, the rest of the game is very lackluster. I played City of Heroes and City of Villains for a few months each and I was in the beta for COV. The game was great when I started out, but the missions were almost exactly the same throughout the entire game (across all levels) and I lost interest.
I was real excited for the release of LOTRO, and was in the 2nd alpha stage of testing (to my knowledge the first stage offered to the public). I played through past the release, and I still have a lifetime subscription (yeah I dropped $200 on the release). Oddly enough, I am on the server you guys seemed to pick (Brandywine). I was with the Council of Light, but having logged on recently to play they dropped me due to inactivity. Inactivity which is due entirely to the mmo which sunk it claws into me and didn't let go (coming up next.) Lotro was great and a much better fit for me than wow. I loved the combat system and the fact that it was based on the lore of my favorite series of books, and not the movies (though I loved those too). I almost had a nerd panic attack when I ran across Tom Bombadil and my in game morale went up.
Now for the meat and potatoes of my gaming experience. I've been playing eve-online for about 2 years now. I love it. I have two accounts. One for my industrialist and one for my fighter. I loved the fact that everything in eve is player driven. The economy is unmatched in my opinion. I love the combat system, and the end-game content, if you can even call it that, is awesome. I was a part of the big alliance war between Bob and goons (bob side via ISS, in case any of you are savy to the politics of this game). I specialized in EWAR and mining and was damn good at both if I do say so myself, and I do. I was the mining director for my corp and drew up budgets and corp mining schedules regularly. My corp was amazing and we talked on vent all day every day. We had people from all over the world i.e. Denmark, UK, New Zeland. I found that having a good player base in my corp was just as important to holding my interest as the gameplay was. Sadly, that's why this paragraph is in past tense. Our CEO hit some real life issues and it placed some strain on directors. The activity dwindled and we lost some members because of it. The CEO and about half of the directors have since sold their accounts and the corp is now dissolved. This all happened months ago, but I only recently cancelled my accounts to start up warhammer. I tried to find another group that was as friendly as my old corp but still had what it took to be successful, and I never found a good fit. A couple of my real life friends joined WAR and I've been playing for about about two weeks, I'm hooked, and here I am.
Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other guilds? [let us know!]
A) You seem very active. You're recruitment bumping on the forums is pretty impressive. I've been looking through as much of your forums as I have access to and your personalities seem to be a good fit. Your selection process seems to be good for weeding out people I'd rather not play with and encouraging the kind of attitudes that make social gaming fun.
Q) Please tell a little about yourself, aside from gaming. Perhaps some
hobbies, about your work, favorite story etc.
A) I'm studying accounting at UCF. With a bit of luck, I'll be out in May. I built my desktop. I like playing the wii and I'm very good at super smash bros brawl. I work at customer service at a grocery store. I've been told I'm a movie buff. I can also drink almost anyone under the table.
Please remember to register here on these forums.
A) Will do.
Q) Do you have any questions for us?
A) Ummm.... Boxers or briefs?
