Client hanging from time to time
If you experience the client hanging time and time again please run the SimpleConfig.exe and use the verify/repair option. You find the Simpleconfig.exe in the installation path of the game. This will verify and repair corrupted files. After the verifying tool has run please try again to start the game.
ATI9800, x800 and x850 series Issues
The above mentioned graphic cards only support Shader Model 2.0 and systems running the game on these cards with default settings might experience symptoms like flickering black screen and shaky rendering.
This issue can be fixed like this:
1) Start the game. When you hear the music starting, a prefs file has been written and you can edit it (in Notepad for example).
2) To find this, you must go to control panel->folder options->view->turn on see hidden files and folders.
3) It is found at the following location on your PC
VISTA: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Funcom\Conan\Prefs\prefs_2.xml
XP: c:\documents and settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Funcom\Prefs\prefs_2.xml
4) Edit the line called < Value name="RenderSetting_ShaderModel" value="1" />
5) It should read < Value name="RenderSetting_ShaderModel" value="0" />
(NOTE: NO spaces between "<" and "Value" )
6) Issue should be fixed then.
Patcher Error "CRC failed in ConanPatcher.exe"
If players get an error "CRC failed in ConanPatcher.exe" they should go to the install folder of the game and rename conanpatcher.exe.0tmp to conanpatcher.exe and try again.
/Claim does not work
The Claim command will only function once you have registered your retail key. This will be the key that arrives in the boxed version of the game. Once you have received this key please upgrade your current account using it and /claim will work properly.
Single Player Instances do not work while in a Team
If you are in a team and attempt to enter a single player instance only the first person that enters will be able to go in. Additional party members will not be able to enter their own instance. To fix this just leave your team!
Log out in Single Player instance for more than 4 hours blocks character
Some players, who logged out their character for more than four hours in a single player instance could not log in with that character afterwards. We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.
In the meantime please do not log out while being in a single player instance. You know when you enter such an instance when you get the message that the playfield you now go to is for your character only.
Lacheish Plains (Updated!)
Lacheish Plains has been worked on by the development team and is now being tested by the QA team for the next update. Please try to avoid this zone at all costs until we have fixed the issue. We will have more information on this fix as soon as it comes available.
Trade NPC's (Updated!)
The Trader NPC's are temporarily disable due to a minor technical issue.. The QA team is also currently testing this system for the next update.
Mini-Map Graying Out (Updated!)
Having the mini-map up while talking to an NPC for a quest can cause the map and compass to gray out. (QuickFix: Hit F10/interface options/HUD/Enable quest tracker.)
Rdbdate Filesize Incorrect - Error During Installation
Some users might get an error while installing the game from DVD. It is possible that the same error is shown more than once during the installation process.
If you are getting an error window saying:

Let it continue to install. Just click [OK] in the above mentioned error window and setup will continue. in the background. The installer will keep on installing the game in the background so you will not see the installer window anymore, you can only see setup is running on the task bar. You will get the popup saying that the install is done and you get the option to launch the game as normal. This will work, and you will be able to patch up. You might, though, get a crash because of the bad install, and you will get an RDB that is missing resources.
After that please look for the SimpleConfig.exe which can be found in the installation folder of the game
(the default path is: C:\Program Files\Funcom\Age of Conan\).
Start the SimpleConfig.exe
Click on the [verify/repair...]
A window will open. Please click on [Begin] to start the repair process.
After the process has ended you should be able to start the game normally.

if the game freezes on you during the load screen into a zone
- try turning the game music OFF
I had this problem repeatedly with Fields of Death, and the game crashed twice on me
the simpleconfig found no problems with my files
but turning the game music off resolved my "load screen game freeze" problem.
