I shot Rifle and Pistol at the Pacific Fleet and All Navy West matches last year (couldn't go this year due to WORK, of all things). I did pretty well for being my first official competition. I earned a spot on the Pac Fleet Team (finished 2nd on the team of 4, and we were 2nd place Team), got a $75 gift certificate for Champion's Choice for best new pistol shooter, and won (still don't know how) the All Navy West Rifle Match. Shot a 482 out of 500.
I still remember the first time I shot at 600 yards.... I was with my brother, and once we got set up, I was like "what the hell am I aiming at? I don't see anything!"
Guess I figured it out, but it still amazes me to hit something not much bigger than a dinner plate at 600 yards with iron sights!
