A) Yes, I have.
Q) Are you at least 18+ years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A) Yes; and then some. The last time I was 18 Michael Jackson released Thriller and I sat in front of my TV watching its premiere on an all-music cable station known at the time as "MTV" (it doesn't exist anymore. There's another "MTV" out there with shows about people smashing their heads into portable toilets and lesbians looking for love, but while channel cruising I've never actually seen any music on that station). The British also defeated the Argentinians in the Falklands War.
Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A) You bet your bippy (and if you know where that phrase came from, you're gonna be my kinda people!).
Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) Not without DNA testing, no. I'm a lone wolf, my friends.
Q) Name: [planned in game/forum name]
A) Two, actually. I want a male character, Ra-ab (which I will use as my forum name) and a female character, Sekheta. Will end up playing one over the other.
Q) Gender: [female, male]
A) Me? Male.
Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) Colorado, Rocky Mountains.
Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) From the Official AoC Forum. Found you guys listed in the US "Regular Guilds" section.
Q) Are you currently in any other Age of Conan guilds?
A) No. I'm not that kinda guy.
Q) Have you applied to any other Age of Conan guilds?
A) No. I'm monoguildamest that way.
Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) I don't have a sense of humor. I have a sense of smell (which keeps most people away); a sense of sight (thank you Lazervision); a sense of touch (usually followed by a sense of slap); a sense of hearing (what's that sonny?); a sense of taste (although some call it questionable); and a sense of irony. Humor, though? I think it's on my shopping list for my next trip to CostCo. I'll get one of those industrial sized drums of it.
Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) You really want me to go there? Seriously? Well...the first MMO I ever played was "Neverwinter Nights" on AOL. It was based upon the Goldbox edition of those D&D games of the late 80s. That got me hooked. But I hated AOL so I ended up leaving. Next, I found EverQuest. Man! That sucked me in like a blackhole and I've been hooked on MMOs ever since. However, I'm yet to find one that captures the same sense of awe that I had in that game. I've tried Asheron's Call since then, WWII Online, FFXI, DAoC, City of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies, EQ2, Vangaurd, Guild Wars, Lord of the Rings Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea (ICK!!!) and probably some others that I can no longer recall. My favorites were EQ, EQ2, WWII Online (if it weren't for the bugs), City of Heroes, LotR and Vangaurd. I like an immersive environment and maturity in my gaming. I hate griefers and live by the motto: Do unto others in gaming as you would have them do unto you. Or, with a Buddhist twist: DON'T do to others in gaming what you would NOT want them to do to you.
Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other AoC guilds? [let us know!]
A) A number of things, really. First, the name of your guild actually reflects the spirit of the game's theme. It fits. Other guilds I've looked at have names that are either uncreative (something they thought of right off the top of their head), inappropriate (what does "The DingleBerry Guild have to do with AoC??), or downright offensive ("The Big Titty Committee" Guild). Others have forums with only 2 or fewer entries or no updates since early April.
Hammerfist sounds Conanian. It has a power to it. It's appropriate. It isn't offensive. It's mature. The forums here are very active with contemporary posts. Also, the recognition that those of us on the other side of the keyboard have lives outside of gaming (wish it were not so!) is refreshing. This isn't about power-leveling. It's about having fun. It's about lending a hand to others and getting a hand when needed. I think that's what Hammerfist is all about and, if so, I'm all for it.
Q) What aspects of Age of Conan excite you the most or worry you? Why?
A) New level of gaming is exciting. The solo content when needed. The spectacular graphics. What worries me is the perennial "will it run on my PC" anxiety. But, one never knows until one loads the game up and tries it. I've hit all the "CanURunIt" sites, etc. and I've got better than minimum but not quite as good as Recommended (largely because I'm not running Vista). But, those same sites said I barely qualified for Crysis and that ran like a dream on my machine. So...really. Just have to wait and see.
Q) What is your forum name on the official AoC forums?
A) Sekheta
Q) Is there any other information about yourself you would like to share with us?
A) I'm married, have two kids (6 and 4) and just got an 8 week old German Shepherd puppy last weekend who is taking up an extraordinary amount of my time. I work in middle management for a large telecommunications company and my clients include such bigshots as NBC and Universal Studios. Any more than that you'll have to pick up the tab for dinner, first.
Please remember to register here on these forums.
A) Ok (odd thing to put on an application form).
Q) Do you have any questions for us?
A) Yes. What's the best method for training a pup to do her business outside? I'm crate training her at the moment and that seems to be working but she still has "accidents" on my carpet. My neighbor suggested rewarding her with those bacon-flavored dog treats whenever she does her job outside and started doing that this morning. Seems to be working well. But any further advice sure would be helpful!
Or, did you mean questions related to AoC and/or the Guild? Um. No. Thanks, tho'.
