My favorite gift is the new kitty that I can get as soon as I "baby-proof" the apartment again! I'm beyond excited.

I also got an Ipod Touch which I love. That gift was free because Shamalot won it from a raffle at work. rabbit

Money to pay some bills. Really, how times change!

Also, I got a pair of fuzzy slippers that have been on my feet pretty much constantly since I got them. They're pretty good too. Very Happy

I bought a book series for myself (kinda from the husband) and he'll be getting a late xmas present in Jan. Our cute little $1,500 Mastiff puppy. Razz Needless to say spending tons of money on ourselves this year was really out of the question, but our kids got tons of toys to last them for a while.

Well I got one thing it was a Tom Tom GPS...kinda creeps me out talking to me though but I like it. Best give though is watching the wife and kids tear into thier stuff, spent the whole month tracking down a perfume called Laila that she found a long time ago at Epcot in the Norway conclave. Bought a god awful handbag and hit the perfume items in it. The look was priceless and the best gift ever when she figured out what I had done. That first "oh...look girls....Daddy got me a....shiney silver handbag" was fun though.

Was a lot smaller christmas this year as I am sure everyones was but the one constant is the family I don't really need much more than that, the older I get the more I learn to appreciate it. I hope all of you had a great holiday!

Post by Kahan Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:30 am

Gifts aren't important to me. The biggest part of Christmas is spending time with the family and enjoying each other and enjoying giving gifts to them.

Was fun seeing my sister laugh and grin as she opened her gifts and saw the care bears dolls I got her, yeah...she's 25, almost 26. Nostalgia works wonders at Christmas. Laughing

Was fun seeing my mom fawn over the big, plush, Boyd's Bear that I got her. Every year it's the same kinda present, and every year she loves them.

Was fun seeing my dad open up a couple of blu-ray movies that I got him, and look at me funny. He didn't have a blu-ray player, then the light bulb comes on, now he does.

Was fun hooking up the blu-ray player...I went to try and configure his entertainment system and just shook my head. He had so many wires going so many different places and everything connected in such a convoluted manner it took me 2 hours to undo everything and get things straightened out and put back together.

Was fun introducing my dad and sister to Guitar Hero World Tour and watching them struggle through a few songs. Was fun to watch my sister pick it up almost immediately. Was fun to watch my dad search through a hundred songs just to find the few that he knew and play them over and over again.

Was fun playing board/card games with the family and yelling and screaming and laughing together.

Was fun stuffing my face with my mom's great cooking.

My presents were all great, but the one that stands out the most...My sister made me 3 jars, one for coffee, one for tea, and one for sugar, decorated and color coordinated for the kitchen in my new house. They were really nice since they were hand made, and I promptly broke one this morning...I was pissed.

Anyways...I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas with Family and will have a great New Year's Eve/Day.

I got one of those "gifts for the nerd who has everything" - Chumby. The world's most expensive alarm clock.

It is actually pretty cool to wake up and see the weather from TWC on your alarm clock, I must admit. Plus it uses Pandora to play random songs off the internet as my alarm sound.

You can say it now. NERD NERD NERD!

I got a Sony Reader (no more paperback books cluttering my tiny apartment - for now), a digital camera and a guitar (a present to myself really Very Happy).

My daughter was happy that she got a keyboard, some clothes, Hello Kitty stuff and some games. Husband got a bass and some games for his laptop.

Me and the hubby have a little competition going on now who can play their respective instruments better. If I win I get a better guitar. He hasn't decided on what he wants if he wins which I doubt will happen anyway Laughing.

I got two pedicure appointments. Now I just need to schedule one so I can have some lovely woman soak my feet and tantilize my toes. That was my best gift. My wife also got me a new electric razor that cut up my neck the first and last time I used it. We returned it to WalMart yesterday. I also got a tabletop game, a few older computer games (Diplomacy and Axis and Allies), and Fallout 3 for my X Box. I played Diplomacy some over the holidays, and the computer AI is not very good. I wish I had 6 other people to play the board game with. I haven't tried the Axis and Allies game yet. I do not think it is the same as the MB board game. But I think it is similar. I also have yet to try Fallout 3 yet, but it is made by Bethesda, which also put out the Elder Scrolls on X Box and I enjoyed that game. I played the old Fallout game on the PC many years ago, so I hope this is at least as good. I see that it is getting good reviews on the TV adds.

I also enjoyed the time with my wifes family. My sister in law got a Wii and we played that quite a bit. I got to knock my wife out in boxing and didn't get in trouble. We also played Mexican Train Dominoes, Phase 10, Carcasonne, and Puerto Rico. The last two of those are some pretty good board/tabletop games.

It was a pretty good time, but I am glad to be back at my house and sleeping in my bed again.

My husband really enjoyed Fallout 3. You can get through it quickly, but I recommend exploring everything you can. There seems to be a lot of cool stuff in there.

And nice board games! Family gatherings with my parents always involve board games. Once we were all living under the same roof, my dad would always get at least one new game (lesser-known but awesome ones, after lots of research) for all of us, from Santa. Carcassonne is one we play a lot, since you don't need many people. A friend has Puerto Rico and I've heard it's good, but somehow we've never played it. Rio Grande does put out lots of great, off-beat games.

My main gift was my plane ticket to come home for the holidays and see my parents...(I got home sick back in April, so Alan told me we could go to my families house in FL the day after christmas).

He also bought me new computer speakers...so now I can REALLY hear my Lotro...but I have yet to hook them up because we've been in Florida since the day after Christmas.

It's been a nice trip and I love being able to see my family. We went boating on Saturday and my dad found out that when his yacht hits a sandbar it makes the boat have insta-brakes...and my knee has the proof since its black and blue from the impact of hitting the front of the boat.

We miss everybody in the game, and we hope to see everybody on Friday night (if it doesnt take us 24 hrs to get home, since that's how long it took us to get here).
