Yeah I did some checking into it a couple months ago. While the game looks neat, I think it may attract a lot of kiddies. It's purely just a hunch however.

Gamespot has the release date as 2Q09.
According to the AionOnline site there will not be a Beta Test, per se. There will be "Preview Events." Here is the FAQ.
