I just wanted to get advice on a good program for both that I could get. I really don't like Norton or the Windows Firewall so that's why I'm asking since it's about to expire anyways. Thanks for any help.

My favorite AV program is AVG. It's free, lightweight on system resources, user friendly, and in my experience catches more than Norton. I also have a portable version of tiny, fast, and thoroughly awesome (and also free) Clamwin (link) (portable version) that I keep on a USB drive, for quick scans of friend's/family's and other PCs.
As for a firewall program... I recommend Comodo (link) or ZoneAlarm (link), both free and pretty solid.
Spybot S&D is a fantastic app, and while I haven't ever personally had a spyware issue, I use it often enough to rescue and protect aforementioned other PCs, and I love it.

everyone i work with (including myself) use at least the free version of Zonealarm (firewall only). I know a couple people who ponied up the extra cash to get the full suite, and they love it. My experience with it has been very good, and i recommend it to anyone. Just, whatever you do, don't buy McAfee....ugh.
