Re: A good headset?
Ok guys,
I just bought the beast of all headsets.
I present to you:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3261744&Sku=E128-1020
Now, If you have a beast of a sound card in your system, this is NOT the headset for you. It is USB and will not use your nice 5.1 SS.
BUT, I use it on LOTRO. Panicd in Crysis. Crapped myself in Bioshock.
The SS is great. I keep looking over my shoulder to see if my roommate is there, and then I die because it was some Korean fella with a machine gun behind me in game.
If you want immersion in your games these are amazing.
Best feature by far is the Force Feedback. HOLY CRAP. They trick your ears into thinking its pure bass and MAN are those explosions scary. Think Sauron exploding in the 'Fellowship of the Ring' at the cinema. You'll get what I mean.
What's great too, is that because it isn't actually producing much bass sound, your ears are safe and no risk to damaging hearing (from the bass).
1 prob: software is crap. The software is needed for these to sound good. They have new software at the website which needs to be downloaded.
And, they look sexy. - Well, as sexy as a nerdy pair of headphones can look. Well, whatever floats your boat.
Anyway, hope this helped. I recommend 'em.

Awesome, I went and ordered those! The feedback/rumble is what sold me. Can't wait to try them out

Re: A good headset?
I just use speakers and a $7 mic from walmart. If i need to have the speakers off for any reason (aka: girlfriend asleep in bed next to desk), I just use the headphones from my mp3 player.
