Tavern Life - The Broken Dagger Inn

*after a long night of drinking at his favorite watering hole, the iron-clad Dwarf known as Brakk tires of catching glances from a sexy seductress across the room. Making his move towards her, he trips over someones staff which was carelessly left lying on the floor. After cussing a storm and shrugging off the embarrassment, he exclaims "Who's da dern fool dat left tis piece o' rubbish on da floor??!" *breaking the staff over his knee.*

Also, I took da trouble of makin' it a 2-piece for yas lad" *quickly glancing over at the woman with a head nod and a wink as if to gain acknowledgment of his meant to be "slick" comment to the man.

*spotting the trouble rising Jade gets off her nearby stool and walks over to the 2 men* "Hello boys, couldn't help but notice that fine stick you have there!"

Hmm, to watch this incident of mindless egos unfold. I sit in the only
unlit corner of the inn. The only hint of light on my face is the
glowing ember of my pipe as the smoke collects under my hood. As a
thief and a brigand you always wait for distractions as the bar maid
will soon be required to settle this matter.
I shall wait for the right moment to collect the tips and coin on the
bar while silently slipping away to the darkness, wealthier than when i
came into this haven of ale and scum. Hehe!

"Thats Brakks for you..." Freg says to the lovely woman across from him. He stands up, and slowly, quietly sneaks behind
the brute who now threatens Brakks. He waves for Jade to move away, as if to say "Let us handle this." He winks to Brakks, while readying his
blade, signalling his assistance.

"Boys, boys!.... can't we all get a long here? Come, let's go over to the bar there, and treat ourselves with a few more drinks shall we? Oh, and I'm buyin!!"

"That's an excellent idea!" shouts a masculine voice emerging from the shadowy corner of the bar room. Putting his arm out behind the group, and the other pointing in the direction of the bar, the stranger's voice says "Now, how about that drink.... *looking over to Jade* "and please, these drinks are on me."

Thinking to himself, "Damn, I wanted to see some action, but I can't pass up a free drink."

"Come on fellas, lets take that drink," Freg says as he pushes Brakks onto a barstool.

Tall and slender, the man only known as "Mike" walks into the tavern, eyes a few open seats in the back, heads towards them then sits.

Seeing one of the barmaids "Hey there good looking, how about a mug of your finest ale." Tossing a silver piece upon her tray.

Entering with a mindful, but casual step, Trinity looks for a small quiet corner, somewhere in the back of the tavern. She soon finds herself resting against a small cushioned seat carved out of what appears to be a large knotted tree stump. Reaching for a small velvet black pouch tucked safely, and snuggly into the breast pocket of her vest, she pulls out a package of cards. Not just any ordinary cards, these cards appear special in some manner, between flickers of the candle light, one can make out what appears to be ancient markings of some kind. Laying the cards out one by one on the knife gouged table before her in some odd, almost ritualistic fashion, she begins to wave her delicate, yet purposeful hands over them. It's as if she's listening with her fingers, ever slightly absorbing any faint stories or secrets the cards choose to reveal....

"Help" he gasps as stumbling toward the Inn. As he stumbles through the door, he slams to the ground. Blood is gushing everywhere. He has several arrow wounds in his chest. There is one final arrow stuck in his back. As he is gasping for breath and help, everything goes blurry and the sound gets warbled. The last thing he sees before his eye lids shut for what may be an eternity, is a strange woman who hasn't lost concentration on what seems like a ritual.

"Ah.. There you are little brother.. I see you have gone and made someone mad again. Don't tell me? Her husband came home early?"
"Now now.. this is going to hurt you way more than its going to hurt me." exclaims the well kept dwarf as he reaches down with a small smile turning up the corner of his lip while he pushes the remaining arrow through the chest of the man. The man on the ground screams in agony, you think his eyes are going to pop out of his head.

"Oh good your still alive. Saves me some work" the dwarf comments as the arrow is removed from the mans chest. The dwarf holding an unrecognized medallion, you here him mumble something that sounds like a prayer as a white light glows around his hand while he places it on the man's chest.

"Juss think of all the chrouble you could've saved... We warned you to stay away from that womann, boy." Freg says, before realizing that his drunken wisdom should have been kept to himself, he continues..."Whachyou neeeed to do--" But he has had a little bit too much to drink and his head drops to the table, next to Brakks and Jade. He begins to snore softly, adding an eerie serenity as it echoes around the room.

"not the woman" he struggled to whisper quietly. "creatures coming for this village, about 2 feet short and way more viscious than the womans boy friend" He managed to get up, feeling better already thanks to lorddrow. "They are snarling and foaming at the mouth and screaming and shouting something about 'we will make that village pay for what they did' I have no clue what it was about but they attacked me mercilessly. We need to get as many able men and women as we can"

The warmth of the Inn struck the barbaric gentleman in his aged, pale face. As he took off his fur flapped hat, his black hair bled down the front of his face, wet with sweat. The clamor of squeeling bitches and drunken heroes came in waves through his head, all riding on the back of the sound of crackling torches. Healthy sinful people and the smell of spilled wine fileed his nostrils. His nose was broken and too far to the left of his face. His eyes started to glimmer with a pleasant joy at the sight of the interior.

He sat at the nearest table and propped his soar leg upon a free chair. The strangers already sitting there looked at him grimly. But He got out his smoking pouch and pipe, looking over at his new people and asking, "Whats all this then?"

Sitting in a dark cornor of the tavern, Xenatha watches with glee at the play being performed in front of her. She places her right hand on one of her swords and wispers hunder her breath. "By Crom let this be a good fight." Then she takes a drink of her mead and observes all the players and tryes to determine who and what they are and what part they are playing in this event taking place before her. She then melds into the shadows and watches, weighs all players, and observers their actions looking for weaknesses and strengths....

Rhuu's shape appears from the shadows next to Xenatha with a grin. He looks to her and sets some coin on the table.

"My moneys on the big one..."

He then returns his gaze to the group and waits with interest.

She turns to the stranger next to her and wispers: "I think you are right. Thou watch the robed ones they seem to have some magic around them." She then takes a drink from her mug and watches intently.

"We gonna sit 'round here all night! 'cmon! If der's blood to be spilled, I'm in fer it! I'm red' ta take on an army, but 'spose we ought to ask some of dese udder gits 'round here if dey want to come along an' join in fer some of da fun! ...jus keep outta me way, I'll be da stunty up front cleavin' dem skulls!" **makes a chopping motion with his axe**
