Superman vs. Luke Skywalker

Yet another good duel!

Lightsabres cut through everything. Cant fly against the force.

Presuming a lightsaber could cut through superman (which would be a fair assumption) I'm gonna give this one to Luke. I've never really liked him as a character, but reguardless of how he was portrayed in the movies he would have extremely fast reflexes, access to the force (Superman has always had a weakness toward magic type attacks) and a blade he can wield nimbly enough to block laser bolts.

Had to go with Luke here... that is, assuming once he was a Jedi, any less, and it would probably be Superman; after all, he's super...

Since I utterly despise superman and all his conservative yuppiness I must go with Luke.

Crazy, Superman seems to be winning but all the comments are for Luke. I'd like to hear from some of those who picked Superman.

I think Superman would win for a point that hes faster than Luke.

I like superman more but I think Luke would win. It doesnt matter how fast you are when your opponent has the force.

Superman blows. He has a ton of superpowers but they are mostly lame. I picked Luke even though I think he might be the 2:3 underdog.

Superman could just fly around the planet really fast turning back time and then pound Luke into goo while he was still in the cradle... hey I'm just saying.....

Yeah, flying, superstrength, and lasers out the eyes are "lame". You know what is lame? The force. Did you actually listen to the dribble Yoda was spewing in that last (acutally third) Star Wars movie. Logic left that movie a long, long time ago. I like the first three movies that were released but I'm more and more convinced George Lucas is actually crazy. Also, I'm not so sure a light saber could cut Superman but we'll never actually know that.

Those super powers are so common and the force is deeper than normal "super powers". The only thing that a lightsaber can't cut through is another lightsaber and Luke wouldn't even need to use his light saber he could force choke him from behind a lead or kryptonite shield (Despite no being on the Dark Side Luke showed his force choking abilities in Return of the Jedi on one of Joba's guards.)

Um...Superman is kinda impervious to being choked. Also, he is kinda faster than him. Then there's the whole force not being in Superman's universe problem. Luke is a whiny little brat with daddy issues. Not to mention he fantasizes about his sister. This isn't even close. A better fight would be Batman and Superman.

Nah, Superman should win, Batman just cheated with the Kryptonite arrow... but its already been done in the comics.

Now when thinking about Superman vs Luke, both are going to have their full powers.

I need three more posts till 100 so I'll reply to this...How can Luke do any damage to Superman when Superman is faster than Luke can see? It isn't like someone is just faster or quicker than Luke. This is completely different.

Well if all you know of Luke is what you saw in the movies then I can understand your scepticism. However, if you were to delve deeper into the Star Wars lore you would learn that Luke isnt exactly a slowbie himself. Not to mention that you severely "underestimate the force" which would be pretty decimating to Superman.

I dont really understand the comment about the force not being in Superman's universe as this is just a hypothetical situation and if the force wasnt involved then you might as well pit Superman against Micheal Jackson with a lightsaber.

Also, I am a Star Wars fan but I don't get into it more than that so whatever books are out there I know nothing about. Since there appears to be huge fans out there, what exactly is the force? I kind it a little on the lame side that it is some type of energy that is in everything.

Also, since Superman is supposed to have a higher intellect couldn't he actually use the force?

Delving deep into which Star Wars Lore? The unofficial series of books or those put forth by Timothy Zahn which were actually sanctioned by Lucas to finish out the series. The problem with episodes 1-3 is they offer better technology than that which appears in episodes 4-6. Luke albeit a simpleton (a country bumpkin if you will) in the beginning turns out to be a master of the force and the last of Jedi's as we are led to belive until we read the Zahn books.

As far as a Superman versus a Luke Skywalker type of thing goes, Superman has some disadvantages that could play into the hands of Luke. While Luke may have the force at his beck and call, only one needs to know that a certain creature in the galaxy nullifies all the Jedi's powers. (This is brought up in Zahn's books). So here we have it that if each were to bring the nullification of powers to the fight superman would lose because not only does kryptonite weaken superman if inserted into his body can outright kill him if left in too long. So it would be a fight in which Luke, with no powers and Superman with no powers, could actually win.

Thus based on the overlying factors, Luke has the supreme advantage provided there was no intercessor on Superman's behalf to remove the kryptonite.

Wouldn't Superman just run around LS until he didn't know the lightsaber anymore?

Well Supes would win hands down. Supes does not actually breathe, think of all the times he has flown in space. Supes can emit radiation at such high dosage that Luke would die when SUpes flew away. Not to mention that supes is SUPER fast, strang, and looks hot in tights.
