A) Yes, and found myself trying not to ogle Jade's thumbnail pic to prevent spouse aggro...
Q) Are you at least 18+ years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A) Yes, will be 37 in June (and having to add to 1971 to figure my age these days!)
Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A) Yes, and even read the one that was rejected (at time of this posting). I would have rejected him as well.
Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) Sure don't, but I plan on being THAT person for a few fellow PotBS Society mates that are heading over to try our swashbuckling
skills (lol) in AoC.
Q) Name: [planned in game/forum name]
A) Rhodar/Rhodar (keeps it simple). Rhodar is a take on Rhodari, which is a Welsh name that I like to use; it just didn't sound "tough" enough for AoC though, so I dropped the 'i'.
Q) Gender: [female, male]
A) male (not much to elaborate on here)
Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) Port Orchard, Washington State (located about an hour SW of Seattle, and about 25 minutes north of Tacoma).
Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) IGN Vault Guild reviews/interview. I was very impressed with Brakkish’s recruitment post, as well as his interview responses. I could have sworn I was reading my own thoughts/ideas…
Q) Are you currently in any other Age of Conan guilds?
A) No, I am not.
Q) Have you applied to any other Age of Conan guilds?
A) No, though I did look at Covenant of the Phoenix; Though they seem like good folk, they just seemed a bit spread out over several MMO’s, and I didn’t see a good organized effort at AoC.
Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) I feel that I have a great sense of humor, though I’m more the type to be able to laugh at myself and other’s jokes, than to come up with much myself. As a former submariner, I have a tough skin, and may be perceived as having a warped sense of humor as well.
Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) Well, it all started back with TeleArena, when my wife and I would fire up the 2400 baud modem and prevent our relatives from being able to call us for hours at a time… We then played MajorMudd until Ultima Online came out. By then, even my oldest son was able to play with us, though usually we just let him beat up the various farm animals ;-) . Next was Everquest, were we diverged a bit and she became Elvish on me, while I turned into a Hobbit, er Halfling. My son by now was playing along right with us, but, as he was a youngin’, we kept him away from the guild we were in (Vanguards of Excellence). We got up to Raid level questing, when it became more work than fun. We dabbled in EQ2, though we just couldn’t get into it for some reason. Then we jumped into World of Worldcraft were my best friend and I started up our own Guild named Clan of Zerhun (Harnmaster based name, for those very few who have played Harnmaster and thought that was familiar). We were small, RL friend based, and had a good time playing/crafting. We delved into Battlegrounds, but that was the extent of our PvP experience. Never got a chance to do Raid level stuff in WoW, before we burned out. Along came Pirates of the Burning Seas and we (ended up being just me, after a few weeks) jumped into it. I love the Age of Sail (Patrick O’Brian’s books, and Horatio Hornblower A&E series), and I put all I have into PotBS. I started up a Society (Guild) named Cyfrinfa, which is Welsh for ‘friendly lodge or society’ or ‘union’, so it seemed appropriate. I tried posting our Society's forum link here, but it is either filitered, or I'm just an idiot! If one were to dig into the PotBS Wiki, they would find a link to our website/forums by heading to Societies, then Antigua - British, then Cyfrinfa. I plan on continuing with PotBS while playing AoC as well, and if it becomes too much, then will pass along Cyfrinfa’s Leadership along to one of several well-qualified folks. As for paying fees, heck, at one point I had 5 WoW accounts going (have another son, and daughter too, and we were all playing WoW at one point). As much as I try, I can’t get my wife, nor oldest son into PotBS, therefore I am looking forward to AoC for some ‘quality’ (lol) family
time… (Really, just reduces the odds of getting spouse agro while playing for hours each day, if she’s playing too...)
Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other AoC guilds? [let us know!]
A) Once I read Brakkish’s recruitment posting, I came to your forums and was extremely impressed by what I saw. I’m not trying to promote our (Cyfrinfa) forums at all, but if you read some of our stuff there, you’ll note that we are mature oriented and look out for each other like
how you do. I know that I, along with several PotBS mates, will very much enjoy, fit in, and contribute, to your Guild (Family)!
Q) What aspects of Age of Conan excite you the most or worry you? Why?
A) The combo results (i.e. special combat graphics) are just insane! Toss in Drunken Brawling, and nudity (/duck spouse slap), who wouldn’t be excited? On a serious note, the Guild city-building looks great, and I very much like the idea of a PvE server, but still have a lot of PvP
options, like Battle Cities, to participate in. From back in my UO days, were I ground and ground out some gold to buy a mule, so I could grind gold faster, only to have it killed the 1st time I went outside the city, STILL gets my blood boiling!
Q) What is your forum name on the official AoC forums?
A) Rhodar, if they ever send me the email to activate it… I registered last night, still no response. I intend of being a voyeur until I actually get to play the game (no Beta key yet, still crossing fingers).
Q) Is there any other information about yourself you would like to share with us?
A) If you’re bored (which you ought to be, by now) you can check out my MySpace for some more info about me; profile ID - nemousn. If you don’t want to read that much more, a quick biography on me:
Married over 18 years, have 3 kids, been in the Navy for 19 years this May, was prior enlisted, now a Lieutenant. Used to be on submarines (USS Albany, USS Narwhal, and USS Kentucky), now an Engineering Duty Officer working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Loving it in the Pacific Northwest! Very much looking forward to joining your outstanding family.
Q) Do you have any questions for us?
A) Did I ramble on? I’ve been known to ramble on a bit…
