I know Srif has followed this one a bit and the things he has told me about it so far don't really impress me. But, they have a while to develop and see what testers think about the gameplay. Hopefully, it will be another good one!

Definately a Trek fan, and i've seen every series (although only really liked NG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise). While i want to believe this will be cool, i can't help but wonder how they plan to pull it off. I mean, every player a captain? That just doesn't sound like it will work, not in Trek at least. And if not that, then what? Can you be a science officer, and just stand there clicking on your console all day? "Yes captain, i spent the last five hours raising the shield effiency by 5%."

I was following the game like a rabid dog. Then i think i died a little when they announced the cancellation...this is awesome they are bringing it back. BTW huge SCI FI fan love it. Star Trek is the best Sci Fi show ever then followed by Babylon 5 and Stargate.

Next Generation is what I grew up on. Loved it. I liked Enterprise too. Unfortunately I don't think it got enough praise.

I was a kid when the Original Series came out in the 60's. Had the Tech Manual and the Enterprise Blueprints, etc in the 70's.

I could have doubled for Riker after he sprouted the beard in the second season of ST:TNG. (I had it years before he did!) (Btw, there is a rumor that he, like Shatner, has been wearing a "rug" for quite sometime now. I still have my hair, just more grey in it these days.)

Didn't warm up to DS9 until near the end. Never could get into Voyager or Enterprise.

I played the Original "Star Fleet Battles" board sims. Did a play-by-mail Trek game for awhile in the 80's. Spent a lot of time writing in a play-by-USEnet/email group called alt.starfleet.rpg. (Does anyone here even remember USEnet?) Was head honcho of ASR for a bit.

And, yes, I have been actively tracking the tortured gestation of the MMO in the Trek Universe. I can only hope it is good as LOTRO has been with Tolkein's stuff. I am sure that there will be several diehards sceaming about this and that not being "canon", but it is the experience that is the thing.

One can hope.

Anybody seen if they are taking Beta apps yet?

An update on STO, it does seem that the game is at least a year away from any kind of testing. One of the big debates is will it be single player ships, with an NPC crew, or PC controlled ships. I can see it as either one but I would love to have the option for a crewed ship. It would be like having a Fellowship to tackle big missions.

I loved the original series but I think ST:NG is the best IMO. Everytime I see marina sertis just makes go wah wah...
