Are you currently in any other Age of Conan guilds? Please tell us

A) I first tried The Old Timers Guild on another server because their mission and ideals seemed to fit with what I desired in a guild. However, they are SO big (1000 or so members?), conflict and drama eventually became a daily occurence. The guild leadership didn't seem to handle the conflicts all that well. The in-game and forum sniping grew tiresome, so I have decided to re-roll and get a fresh start. I have already informed them I've leaving their guild, so even if I don't get accepted to your guild, I won't be going back there.

A) I have played DAoC, AC2, EQ2, CoH/CoV, AO, LOTRO, TR, and WoW. Of the above, the one I played the longest was WoW, for almost 3 years. Raided up to Mag.
I've seen a post or two about Zork- I was right up there with the Infocom addicts! When I was 8 I scored 850,000 in Pacman at a shopping mall contest, and my mom almost sent me to boarding school.

Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other AoC guilds? [let us know!]
A) Maturity, unity, fun, tolerance of various playstyles and time commitments... that's what I'm looking for! From your description, Hammerfist fits the bill!

A) I'm a clinic physician by day (I need the sense of humor, else I'd be taking pills myself). I also love financial markets and I actively trade stocks, futures, and currencies (thus the official forum name). I'm a big Mixed Martial Arts fan, my toons tend to have names related to MMA. I also love world futbol... in fact, I took my wife and 3 month old daughter to Hooters today to watch the Poland-Austria game. I'm not sure how many brownie points I scored with THAT manuever. I also have a 360 and Wii, but since my time for gaming is limited, I don't play them all that much. I also collect wines, but will drink beer when my wife's not looking.

Curious about the guild your leaving, were you involved in any of the forum sniping or guild discussions? Just seems like a very short time to be in, judge and leave a guild in a new MMO. Not always a bad thing, would just a smidge more background.

the reason i ask is because while as a whole thier guild dwarfs us, if you focus only on aoc, you might be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire so to speak

however we are a fairly civil bunch

I had a feeling I would get some OTG questions! I'll answer as best I can. The AoC chapter in OTG is HUGE! According to leadership posts they had 1000 accepted applicants before the game even went live. They cotinued to accept people thereafter until very recently, so I'm sure it's well over 1000 now. And I fully believe they were telling the truth- on any given weeknight at 12AM PST/3 AM EST (not exactly peak hours), there would be well over 200+ members on! Not to mention how many were on at peak hours.

The first real conflict occurred when apparently some individuals erected the guild keep without the knowledge or blessing from the leadership. That led to a big forum pissing match that spilled over into guild chat. I can say honestly I was not involved- I haven't leveled a toon past 22, I don't even know what is needed to erect a guild keep yet! I also think that the guild made the application process too lenient, there are a LOT of
individuals in OTG who do not in the least bit embody the ideals of the guild. Thus there are regular forum posts about who stole whose kill, who wouldn't group with which guildie so they could avoid a boss timer....

....I have enough of this in my RL. I don't need it in-game. In fairness, I did meet many players in OTG who were thoughtful and good people, and the leadership means well....but at the end of the day, the negatives outweighed the positives. I know I was not there for very long, but I knew in my gut it was not the place for me. I was getting that "I dread logging on" feeling; a guild is supposed to help you avoid that feeling, not facilitate it.

One other boo boo I noted- after I leveled Sprawl to 5, I belatedly discovered that he is a Conqueror, not a Barbarian. But I will keep him for now!

App looks good to me. I can't imagine being in a guild that huge. The asshat factor must have been off the charts.

I think you should go ahead and answer the age old questions:

boxers or briefs
Indiana Jones or Chuck Norris
laser cats or sharks with frikkin laser beams attached to their heads

And pretty much anything else you can think of. We like to know everything including your shoe size and how big your hands are.

This app looks good, and I think we need more San Francisco area people in this guild. (I'm in Pacifica - we're relative neighbors.)

2. If you're a wine afficionado I *highly* recommend you try the Kilnker Brick Winery 2005 "Old Vine" Zinfandel. They're a local winery (located in Lodi), and I have to say it's easily one of the best Zinfandels I've ever had. I'm not a huge wine snob, so it may be beneath a true collector's notice, but you seriously can't go wrong with a bottle of this. (You can go to their website and order a bottle - I got mine from the wine bar opposite "Le Colonial" in San Francisco.)

Yeah I can imagine how that would upset a lot of people. While their intentions were good I'm sure, they might have not thought about the repercussions before hand.

1. Internal medicine physician who does clinic work (die slowly) as well as inpatient hospital work (die quickly)
2. Heh, many Old Vine Zinfindels from Lodi are GREAT bargains, the mass produced Bogle Old Vine Zin is a fantastic BBQ/grill wine that goes for about $8. Considering that the average decent Napa Cabarnet starts at $60 these days, I am all about the bargain bin.

This is a really great application. I really feel like I got to know the person behind the post. Not only did the application have character, but it also had substance.

On another note, I really, really, really miss central coast, CA. I lived in Monterey, CA for 2 years and I can't wait to get back. My wife graduated from UCSB as well. After I finish out my time in the military and break into the IT security field, maybe I can swing working in San Jose. We'll see.

But, this application gets a big from me.

Lastly, you mentioned that you sneak some beers every once in awhile. What is your "old faithful" beer? A beer that you always find yourself buying when you are at the store?

I really don't get to drink much beer these days, but my favorite ones are made by Lost Coast Brewery in Humboldt. Unfortunately, they often are not easy to find where I live. Since my wife likes wine as much as I do, that's the main EtOH source.

The Central Coast, from Monterey down to Santa Barbara, is an absolute jewel. My uncle taught at Cal Poly for 35 years and we'd visit his family at least 3 times a year growing up so I know the area pretty well. My wife and I will often hit the little beach town of Cambria, 30 miles west of Paso Robles, for getaway weekends.

We do hope that you come back to Cali after your service duration! IT here is competitive but jobs are available and it pays well.

The Sharks rock, but I'm pretty much a casual hockey fan. Their games are great, though, if you don't mind the $7 garlic fries.

Just a few things.

You say your a physician, with a day pratice, a Wife, Two rugrats, Wii, Xbox, and now AoC. When is the last time you got any sleep? Are you and sleep even on speeking terms?

Do you think there is a push by phar companies to get all amarcans hooked on one perscription or another? I wounder what % of people over and under the age of 18 are takeing some kind of perscibed drug on a dailey bases?

If you give us some Medical Advice, your not going to try and send us a bill are you? Just kidding.
