That's nice. What are you using to make it? I know nothing about making sigs fyi.

Right now I'm just using Paintshop Pro X (I hate it but it's what I got at work)... I'll be redoing it in Photoshop.

Either tool tho is good for making sigs... pretty much any tool that allows you to layer graphics. Meaning, you pick out a background layer, a few forground layers, then add some text.

Not a lot of rocket science involved, but for the very good/professional, it takes a lot of time, effort and skill to learn the tools properly.

Was going too, but can't get PPSX to cooperate, will do that tonight when I get home.

I like the sig....but since you asked. The effect you have for your test is a strain to my eye to read...maybe its because the "e an a" dont have the outline in the centers. Maybe use the burn tool to fade the skull in to the background more to give the effect of it being in the shadows a bit more...


But i will say it looks promising....The necro is cool...which i had found it. Is the background a water reflection?

same deal with the hammerfist clan for me, now that taltos has opened my eyes, might go for a highlight around every letter instead of the "raised" one sided look


but all things aside if you gave that to me as my avatar i would be happy so keep in mind we could probably pick apart every one of taltos' just as easily

Thanks for the imput guys... and Taltos, I meant no offense by the "Rocket Science" comment. I have great respect for what you do and know you put a lot of time and effort into getting that proficient.

I fixed the skull and fonts... Still not happy with the text portion of the graphic... I think Photoshop has better text editing. Anywho, just trying to incorporate your suggestions...

As far as water reflection Taltos, I was going for that look, but started out with a picture of a forrest... I just distorted it a bit and felt it did the job. If you would like the graphic for the caster, please feel free to work your mastery on it. I can post the original if needed.

Very nice looking. It would be even cooler if you could get the spray from the hands to look like the name is coming from the spray. I did mine in photoshop by cutting and pasting from pics on a google search. I've never used photoshop before making mine, but it turned out kinda cool considering my beginner level. It almost makes me want to get another bachelor's in graphic design.

Interesting suggestion... I'll be flipping the caster on my next release... I'll play around with having the spell generate the W in the name.

That could be freaking cool looking.


And as for your first attempt, I really like it... Keep it up!

You didnt offend me at all...you just made think...and now i dont know what i was thinking.....i was going to add something more after i said rocket science and i had to run outside to move my water sprinkler...camo back in and i was ...hell i dont know what im saying now...i must be getting that old timers disease..thats what i call it.

So quick Q for the sig vets. How on earth do we pull characters like ... out of the picture your stealing them from, so as to not copy their background. Not sure if that made sense... but like say I want to "borrow" a graphic from a source that has a backgournd and I only want the character thats in the foreground. Is this even doable?

Yes ma'am... It makes it easier to have a graphics program like Photoshop or PPSX. They have tools that allow you to select pixels based off a certain criteria. Some are more work than others, but very doable.

BTW... Everytime I see your avatar... I see you are from Bend, Or... I keep reading that Bend Over.... Not sure why. LMAO.

The process in which you are referring is often called "rendering" an image. Not to be confused with creating one from scratch.

When you do your google image searches, you may save some time if you are not yet confident with your rendering abilities by doing a search as such "Sword Render" Then click the images tab in google.

Brakk, so I did already know the way to like manually trace the figure then cut them out but dang that takes time, there has to be an easier way. Does anyone that uses Gimp know if it has a quicker way to do this????

You may have a magic wand tool, much like my wife keeps in her nightsta.... never mind went off topic there for a moment... oh yes, magic wand tool. Photoshop has one, perhaps your program does too. Google magic wand and take a look at some tutorials. Make sure to have your results filter on. I'd hate/love to see what came up from that search without it on.

It's getting there... but it's still missing something.
