They should once it comes to your area. I also had the 8Mbps service (called "Blast" I think). All I had to do was reboot my cable modem and I was at 16. It peaks at 20 actually for short periods when first starting a download (their burst config). Watch for a letter in the mail from Comcast. They did say however that they had this in place since early December and are just now getting the news out, so you may want to try power cycling your cable modem just for the hell of it (and upping your QoS limits on any wireless routers you might be using).

Remember those days well. Except I started at 50 baud, before we upgraded to 75 baud. (We were a cutting edge school.) Long before the days that ASCII-8 coding became the official means of sending data electronically. (And we had to strap our phones in to the coupler.)

I have comcast. I wonder if I can upgrade... I need to call them anyway to get them to turn me down to basic cable now that my 6 months of cheap premium channels is over.
I hope they don't have to come out for anything though. There aren't enough hook ups for everyone in my building, and instead of installing more when the morons get there they just pick someone at random, unhook them, and plug it into the new apartment. I've been disconnected 2 x so far.

I'm suppose to be getting 10Mbps. I don't really see a difference from when I had their craptastic 1.5Mbps, that's if the internet is up. The techs here have problems with reconnecting cables after their done "servicing" whatever.
With the crappy service I get from these jerks I wish there was any kind of competition but unfortunately we, the US military get screwed here and there really since anything we can do about it (well there is but that would require moving out in town and I'll be lucky if I get a tech that can speak any english
).
You would think living in Japan, where they have the fastest internet speed in the world, I would be able to get it but no! The Navy goes with the cheapest contractor out there, which is never good for us.
I can't wait to go back to the states and get some decent internet service.
