Lame question here about sending a private message through the forums: if I send a message, and then see the message sitting in my outbox and not in my sentbox, does that mean the message can't be sent for some reason?

All that means is that whoever you sent it to hasn't read it yet. Once they've read it it moves to the sent folder.

Also, if you edit it while it's still in your outbox the forum will update the message you sent to reflect the changes. Like Kahan said, as long as it hasn't been viewed by it's recipient yet.
