Well being the only Coastie in the Clan I would just like to say that I feel completely out numbered and would like to throw in the towel . Haha I have been in

the USCG since I graduated high school. July272003 / Present. I am currently an Operation Specialist 2nd Class Petty Officer .

My first station was in Astoria OR where I served on the USCGC Alert a 210’ Coast Guard Cutter. We did northern and southern patrols. When we went north we

did fishshery / Safety boardings. We went as far north as Victoria CAN. And when we went south we did Drug Interdiction / AIMO ops. We went as far south as

the equator. I got to go to places like Porta Vallarta MX, Cabo San lucas MX, Mazatlan MX, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama City PN, and Ecuador. While I was on

the CGC Alert we where able to stop a drug boat and got over 120 bails of Cocaine. Each bail weighed about 40-50 lbs. It was really exciting. The Helo that we

sent after the drug boat shot out the drug boats engines and after that we boarded the vessel and took all the fat loots. Haha well that is one of my many

wonderful stories. Now I am stationed in San Diego CA. I love the weather here and also I am a huge Chargers / Padres fan and have been ever since I was born.

I still have another year and a few months before my 6 year enlistment is up then I will have to decided if I am going to reenlist or just call it quits. I am pretty

sure that I will be reenlisting.

My stepson is a SeaBee since 00, has done two deployments to each of the sand boxes.

One of stepdaughters was a Gunner Mate (Missile) and served on the USS McFaul (DDG-74) from 01-05 (currently in the Reserves and considering going back in as an officer now that she has finished her degree.) Her ship was in the Gulf when 9/11 happened and was one the first ones to start lobbing stuff at Afghanistan.

My son-in-law is former Boomer Missle Tech.

'Sokay, the AF dress blues made us look like Greyhound Bus Drivers. I rarely got to wear mine. I was too busy in the fatigues running around playing silly-a** wargames and pretending I was in the Army. It was rather ironic that I joined the AF to avoid having a piss pot and a M-16 be my best friends. (I woulnd up doing a lot of time in tactical communications.)

I actually did 4.5 years in the U.S. Army and 3.5 years in the Texas Army National Guard. In the Army, I was a tech on the Hawk Missile System and in the Guard I worked on Helicopter Navigation and Communication equipment.

Loved the job, but hated the living conditions. If I was married and lived off post I might have stayed in longer. I just hated having to clean up after the same guys all the time. Too many undisciplined slobs. It's amazing how the work area can always be kept clean, but they can't make the same effort to keep their living area clean. My job in the Army was pretty sweet. I was assigned to a depot maintenance unit and worked on electronic equipment in areas that had to stay at 72 degrees all day. We also basically worked a typical 8 to 5 job with the exception of PT in the mornings and guard duty about once or twice a month. I think we went to the field about 2 or 3 times a year.
