Vent tips:

Michael wrote:Vent Normalization makes everyone's voice the same exact volume. In essence if someone yells over Vent and you are wearing headphones, it won't blow out your eardrums.

Here's how (if you don't know):

    1. Open Vent go to setup
    2. Enable Direct sound.
    3. Select the SFX button.
    4. Select Compressor and click Add
    5. select compressor and click Properties.
    6. Change the following to the these settings:
      a. Gain: Adjust for how loud you want people to be (set to like 10-15, your preference).
      b. Attack: 0.01
      c. Release: Approximately 500
      d. Threshhold: Approximately -30
      e. Ratio: 100
      f. Pre Delay: 4.0

there everyone should sound the same level. You adjust your inbound and outbound when you want everyone to sound louder.

I've heard the Vent server has been really active. True? Is it possible that we might need to add some slots in preparation for opening day? Or do you guys and gals that have been on think that the current 40 is sufficient.

I have been in a guild with more then one game going (DAoc, EQ2, Lotro, WoW, Guild Wars, CoH/V, Asheron Call 1) with over 1000 active members between all of those games. My guild ran both a TS and a Vent server, and between the 2 they filled up about 70 people total on the weekends.

I doubt it would become a problem with 40 slots. If it does become a problem, probably wont happen till we are doing PvP Battle Keep siege battles, which I believe is 50 people max for each side.

/agree

There is about 130 members in my WoW guild and i don't think we have ever had 40 people on Vent at the same time.

Might be something to think about if our membership breaks the 200 person mark. headbang

New to Vent

Post by Ghalandria on Mon May 12, 2008 8:47 am

Ok the whole time I was playing LOTRO I was afraid to go and download Vent because I thought it would be to complicated to get it to work. I was so wrong!!!

Since I just got added back in here to Hammerfist in Age of Conan (yay!) I thought I would try to go the extra mile and give it a shot.

It was so darn easy I can't believe it!!! Wow did I ever miss out.

Anyways all of you who are wondering if it is hard to set up. It took me like 1 minute to do after downloading.

Can't wait to try it out when the game releases.

Speaking of which...where was our fearless leader all week? We were hoping you would pop in and say "hi", but no one ever saw you (or atleast when I asked).

He's been in hybornation to prepare for the release of AoC so that he will be able to sustain himself through 14 days of sleepless gaming.

Pretty much right on par. I'm getting things set up around here to be more automated, bringing on some extra help, Ash and the officers can now also moderate... so you can expect to see a lot of me once the game goes live, (for better or worse Laughing ) as I shift my attention over to my in game duties.

Speaking of ventrilo max populations; did you all know siege limitations on a keep defense is 48 versus 48 players?

I guess if 48 v 48 in an instance that is siege warfare in AoC - and if we have say 100 guildies, and 24 are needed to build a keep is it (or player city) and each guild is only allowed 1 - then would we have to make mini clans of 24-48 and make more than one keep each?

I know my grammar is off atm, pretty tired. Ironically this would look like the Roman Empire in Gaul after the fall of Vercengetorix - Roman legions sprawled in a semi-circle throughout the province...

i.e.; Hammerfist Clan = 1 Player City = 48 members = main officers and royalty of the guild

Bear Clan = 1 Player City = 48 members = core of Hammerfist
Wolf Clan = 1 Player City etc., and so on equaling in this example 3 player cities, with two allied clans under Hammerfist...called in as mercenaries to help in instanced siege defense scenarios...

Sorry if I'm not making sense but I'm sure you all get the drift Smile

/salute
