How's the game currently?

I was updating our own AoC website the other day and it was a struggle to find any current info on the game. Especially (which came as a huge surprise) AoC's official site. Before today's addition on their site, the last update was in August. What a Face and it's been nothing but crickets.

What is population like on the server?
Does it seem like Funcom is still interested in the game, or is it looking like a game that they will eventually shelve?

Gamesindustry.biz has talked to Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas about topics like the recent restructuring, the plans for 2009 and also about the XBox 360 version of the game.

It's been year of ups and downs for Age of Conan developer Funcom. The title eventually launched in May 2008 after delays, with an impressive one million units shipped to retail, as 800,000 signed-up for the MMO, and 400,000 committed to monthly subscriptions by August.

However, it's not been without technical and gameplay issues, so much so that Funcom co-founder Gaute Godager stepped down as game director in September, and left the company. Later the same month, the company took the decision to merge servers in the US and Europe.

Although MMO developers are notoriously cagey when discussing exact figures, Funcom was willing to discuss the problems, evolution and future of the company with GamesIndustry.biz in this exclusive interview with CEO Trond Arne Aas.

Here, he discusses the recent redundancies, the changes to Age of Conan, the development of the Xbox 360 version of the game, plans to dip a toe into the casual market, and upcoming MMO The Secret World.

Just to recap some - they have added a new area called Ymirs pass which people have said they are having or were having issues with the area. The first log into the area was a bad one but after that it seemed fine. I went through the whole story line without difficulty or problems. They are going to start merging the servers soon. they tried once with the rp server but have to undo it. Most of the lag issues have been dealt with. They seem to be working out alot of the ingame issues. I still find that after lv 80 you seem to have nothing to do unless helping friends get some quest done or raids in the dungeons. Its hard to tell the server pop sometimes it depends what area you are in. I think they were saying our server was one of the biggest populated (but dont quote me i could be wrong). I still like playing the game so I will stick around and see what funcom has to offer for now.I will wait till after they are done with the server merges and see how everything goes then. Right now im in Kheshatta and there has been a handful of people out here coming and going. And it does seems like alot more chatter on the global channel now. And to answer if they will shelve it guess they (funcom) only knows that. Guess have to read the interview on Gamesindustry.biz.
