Dual core processors Empty Dual core processors

Post by Hect Sat May 10, 2008 7:49 pm

As you probley already know I am not very gifted when it comes to computer components.

I have heard that dual core processors should be turned to one when running AoC to improve performance. Is this true? Also how do you go about doing this?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give.

Well that really shouldnt be nessesary at release. There was a bug in the beta that caused the game to choke on multiple core CPU's for some reason. If you want to designate it to a single CPU just push Ctrl+Alt+Delete, open your task manager, go to the processes tab, right click on the AoC process, go to "set affinity" and designate the game to run on a specific core. (Note, you have to be in the game first to do this.)

Again, once release rolls around it shouldnt be nessesary.

I was running the OB client on my dual core system and it was fine. My brother was running on a quad core system and also had no issues.

As mentioned, they should have things ironed out for the official client release so all should be well.

Overall i was very pleased with the performace i got out of my system. I had honestly expected a bit less.

The big question for me is how my system will run DX10............
