For you XP users here is something to look into. SP3
download is available. It looks like the performance increases are marginal but
do exist. XP
SP3 performance gains - Nothing to write home about. XP SP3 vs.
Vista SP1 - Which is fastest?
XP SP 3 Download.
If you have Vista and have not installed SP1 yet this thread
might help. Microsoft
to begin automatic distribution of Vista SP1 today.
Vista
SP 1 (32 bit)
Vista
SP1 (64 bit)
The latest Direct X (March 13,2008)
DirectX
End-User
The new Firefox is insanely fast. It seems stable I have
been using from day 1 and very happy with it. Firefox 3.0
Beta 5 - Fastest browser yet!
Firefox
3.0 beta 5
If there is any one program I believe every windows based
computer should have it is Process Explorer. It is Task Manager on steroids.
You can see what handles and DLL’s you have open and look all the way to root
of processes. Great when tracking down problems or trying to
remove and bits of removed software. Follow install directions and go to
options to replace Task Manager you can always toggle it off and task manager
will be there if you uninstall Process Explorer
