As noted by George Carlin, may the Devil be kind to him, the USDA standards for the number of rodent hairs, bug parts, etc that are allowed to be in some foods. (Hot dogs being the most notable example.) However, the mindset of the upper management of this company, as evidenced by emails that have been seized, shows a flagrant disregard for anything beyond their bottom line.
To a degree, I think it is unfortunate that we are not more like the PRC (People's Republic of China). The executives of the plant responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of the contaminated dried milk products that caused a number of illness and deaths, along with a panic that nearly spanned the globe, have been given death sentences. We will be lucky if these idiots get a sentence of a couple of years and will get to serve it out at a country club like minimum security prison.
