Firefox issue [RESOLVED] Empty Firefox issue [RESOLVED]

Post by lorddrow Tue Apr 22, 2008 12:38 am

Okay I am trying to put the demons behind me and use FireFox instead of IE..
One of the main reasons I want to use FireFox is that it supose to have a built in Spell Checker.. and as you can see mnie is not working..
I have downloaded and installed the dictionaries and thought that would do it.. but nooooo!

I have looked all over the options for FireFox and I must be missing something.. Anyone? Help?

    It's easier than you think.

Just start typing a message and misspell a couple of words, and you'll see them automatically underlined in red. Right click them words to have a list of corrections pop up. Yes I know it's amazing, and damn handy Smile

It actually doesn't work for me on this site. I've noticed but haven't really mentioned it.

There could be a few reasons...

    1) You have scripts disabled.
    2) The option isn't checked... Go to tools, options, advanced. On the general tab, there will be a box for Check my spelling as I type. Make sure this is checked and restart FF. You should now see a red squiggly line under mistypes.
    3) If you've done both of the above, try right clicking in the area you want to check... A context menu should pop up with spell check this field. Make sure that is checked as well.

Hope that helps ya out a bit.

remember if you use FireFox its a good idea to snag the NoScript addon for additional internet security, although it does take some getting used to.

I can't get the built in FF spell checker to work on this site either.
Everything is setup correctly, I have checked it numerous times and it
is working on every other site besides this one. Not sure what the deal
    is.

Try doing that. When you're typing a reply to a post, right click where you type and click 'Spell check this field.'

So I am not the only one....

I just got it working at least for this post.. I miss spelled a word and then right clicked on it and choose "Spell Check this field" and now it works.

    Thanks for the input.
