Big Pats fan from back in the old Steve Grogan days. Born in Vermont but currently transplanted in central Texas aka Damn Yankee. I still think they can make the playoffs without Brady and hopefully Cassel will be able to hit full stride by then and allow them to go beyond the first game. He looked pretty timid this past weekend. Hurricane Ike pushed back the Texans game and actually allowed me to watch a my team this past weekend.
The Cowboys have always been my second favorite team. I used to love the old Staubach years. I have never been a fan of the Jerry Jones team. I had been known to root for the Oilers for a while as well. Loved the Earl Campbell days and then also Warren Moon. Got to go to a game pretty cheap the last year they were in Houston. Havn't seen anything out of the Texans worth rooting about.
After I retire, I plan to purchase one of those dream weekends and take my dad to a Redskins vs. Patriots game. He is a huge Redskins fan. I have only seen the Patriots live once, and that was when I was in high school and they happened to travel to Dallas for a game. I still have that banner hanging on my wall.
I also love to watch college football. Big Longhorns fan and an overall fan of the Big 12. I can't stand any of the Florida teams. I love to root for the under dogs as well. There is just so much more excitement in college football. Had season tickets for the past 3 years for the Longhorn games. Besides the refreshment prices and lines for the bathrooms, there is a huge difference between sitting on the couch and watching it live. I remember the days when I could buy a ticket for $5, they are now about $80 a piece. Too many transplanted Californians. Yep, the transplanted Yankee blasting the transplanted Californians. Texas could have a rough time this year. They have to go up against Arkansas next week, and then play Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas in conference play and even the other Big 12 teams they play can pull out the occaissional upset. They would have to have a perfect year and lots of luck to go to a title game. If McCoy goes down with an injujry, you can most likely write them off. I love the rivalry games with OU and A&M. If we win great, if we lose, we can have fun blaming Greg Davis for his crappy calls, especially that lousy WR screen on 3rd and 5-7 aka the Quick Pick. Seen too many of those go for 7 the other way. If I can sit and watch the game and guess what play he is going to call, I know the defensive coordinator of the other team is ready for it.
I played Fantasy Football for about 10 years. Most of those years were before you had all of the free software for running your league. The first few years I was the commish and actually calculated all of the points using the local Newspaper. I eventually got burnt out. Started getting instances of friends trading players to each other to dump one team and make one strong team just to win the cash. My wife still asks me every year if I want to play in a league. I got lucky and married a woman that loves football and tolerates my late evenings playing MMORPG's.
Probably more than you wanted to read.
