Way too much...and its a GTS.

A 8800 gt would kick its ass.

If you are looking for a double slot card, and can be easily overclocked, buy this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130357

Its WAY cheaper too...I mean this 8800 gt is only $159!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good solid card... I have an XFX motherboard and love it. I'm sure the card won't disappoint. The only think I could suggest is wait until NVidia releases their next batch of cards... Within a few months. This will probably drop the 9800 series down to the $300 and under mark. In which case, you should pick one of those up.

The whole GTS vs GT argument can get out of hand. Some reports show the G92 as a 10 to 15% increase in performance... Then others say it is lacking.

There is no doubt the GTS pre G92 was inferior, but I believe the benchmarks for the G92 can exceed those of the GT.

This card is a little cheeper "$45" and better IMO. Evga's new tweaking tools are the best ive used yet! you can set the fan speed and overclock extremley simple and easy, even loads your custom setting on windows boot.

Well, I just noticed in the specs on that GTS that the core and memory are overlocked, though the description doesnt say its overclocked (or I misread it).

That GTS is pretty fast, but I still think you can probably find another card at a cheaper price.

What I bought for AoC was an EVGA 880GT, regular card, not overclocked.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130318

I Paid $189.99. I just use RivaTuner to OC it, if necessary. However, I don't really notice a difference even at 700mHz and 1g memory. I am no computer genius, to say the least, but I think you would be better of getting a 8000GT, from what I have read. Just my 2 cents. Razz

Either one would surely make a difference in your gameplay.

The new cards from ATI and Nvidia are coming out at the end of the month. If you can hold out I would recomend it. ATI is looking to bring some real bang for the buck cards expecially the 4850.

Plus with these new cards it only means that the prices of the 8800GT and your linked 8800GTS will drop significantly

    Just my $0.02.

man, I bought a GTS 512, made by MSI, and looking at the official forums, there seems to be a lot less problems with the new GTS's then there is with the GT's.

Personally, provided you don't get tricked into a shitty clock like that, the GTS is a good card. The hype is big on the GT's, and although they are good cards, they certainly aren't brand new tech. I'd say wait till the end of the month, if the AoC team fixes the issues with ATI cards (or vice versa,) the new ATI cards may be a much better deal.

The price of the 4850 looks to be crazy. While no real benchmarks are out it is quite possible that it will beat the 9800GT and cost somewhere around $180. While the money might be burning a hole in your pocket, as it is mine, you dont want to kick yourself in a week.

Iv'e seen some 3dmark 06 scores on multiple sites and it looks like an average 8800 gt score is 10300 and the 4850 in that same rig nets you 11400. but that is with beta uber new drivers so I see even better results to come.

I am going to wait out for the 4870 with ddr5 memory, that sucker with beta drivers is suposed to be 33% faster than a 8800 gt! What a Face

Yeah, now the 4850 is looking better though. The link below basically confirms that a pair of 4850 will beat a GTX 280.

    http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1467/how_nvidia_stuffed_the_gtx_280/index.html

Considering the GTX 280 costs $600 and a 4850 costs $200 and most people have intel chipsets, it seems like an amazing deal to just roll with crossfired 4850s.

By the end of the week we should know how the 4850 stacks up to the 4870 but considering Crossfire X, you can grab a 4850 now and then a 4870 in a few months and they should really rock out.
