I'm SO close to getting this. I'm still using an old 19inch CRT. w/ a DVI to VGA converter.

I've just been waiting for a price drop... but.. too... impatient!

Anyone happen to try out this bad boy?

I just purchased the samsung 2253BW and I think its awesome. As Lorahand mentioned there is some backlight bleed, specifically on the top and bottom of the screen but this is only visible when the screen is displaying complete black. Along with this the screen is super bright so if you dont turn down the brightness the blacklight bleed is really noticable.

However, with this said the screen is great. I moved up from a 19inch and couldnt be happier. Samsung is known for making some of the best LCDs out there.

At any rate moving from a 19inch to a quaility 22 inch is gona be great.

I looked at both of those monitors and ended up with:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009125

It has been a rock solid monitor and has produced everything I could ever want in gaming and movies. For only 50-75 dollars more you get one hell of a huge monitor!

acer can be kind of a crap shoot. I think you have a better chance of getting a defective acer than any other major brand out there, but if you get one that works fine you just made a smart choice and saved a bunch of money.

I always love them commercials and ads for tv's and monitors. One example, watching commercials, then one comes on for a HD tv, and the commercial proceeds to show everyone pictures and stuff on the HD tv.... do people realize the picture they just went ooh and aww over was just viewed on THEIR tv. Very Happy

Not saying anyone here is fooled by such advertising, but looking at a couple of those monitor adds with the pictures on them reminded me that.

But I know there are people in the world browsing online with their old monitor, coming across them adds with the pictures on screen going, "wow, look at the picture on that one."

Sadly Brak, I can almost bet it's happened more than a few times. I could NEVER work customer service hah.

I also love how BB's web site only lists the dynamic contrast ratio instead of the static CR. I bet someone would read a few of those and say WOW 10,000:1 that's WAY better than 1000:1!

Thanks to some of the suggestions I'm really having to dig around on this one. Smile

Yeah, I head a friend of mine the other day so wow look at the picture on the monitor. I respond with pretty much the same response as your would Brakk. Looks pretty good on yours too Very Happy

I have Samsung 22 226BW. I have had it for a year. I don't think they make it anymore, there is some backlight issue, but only when the LCD is completely dark. I have had no other problems with it. I watch movies and games, of course. I highly recommend it to anyone. Samsung and LG both make great products. Really cannot go wrong with them.

Not sure if you already bought a monitor or not, but for some good deals if you haven't seen this site before, it's worth while to check it out.

    http://dealspl.us/

Find some really good e-deals here.

I personally did extensive looking at monitors before I got mine. I really wanted this one http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=373777&pCatg=5902
but after months of research, I went with this NEC from newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824002359.

At the time I got it I had a discount code I found from the first link I posted and got it for under $400 after shipping.

Couldn't be happier with this monitor. It has a really good viewing angle, I watch movies on it quite often when I'm using my laptop. Well worth my money spent imo.

But before you buy one, especially online, make sure you check into the e-tailer's dead pixel policy. It is easy to fix most of them yourself, but I know some of the manufacturers have a high dead pixel count before they will accept it for a return.
