OK, so I ordered AoC and am eagerly waiting for the postman to bring it to my door. In the meantime, I heep hearing how only "higher-end" computers can run it. I am not very computer-smart, and am asking your help in determining if I can run AoC. I went to www.canirunit.com and it said my computer was above the recommended specs that site has for the game, but anyway, here's a brief overview of my system.

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_ldr.071023-1545)
    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
    System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
    System Model: GN556AA-ABA a6200n
    BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
    Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 1059MB used, 3248MB available
    Windows Dir: C:\Windows
    DirectX Version: DirectX 10
    DX Setup Parameters: Not found
    DxDiag Version: 6.00.6000.16386 32bit Unicode
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
    Chip type: GeForce 8600 GT
    DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
    Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0402&SUBSYS_40161682&REV_A1
    Display Memory: 1008 MB
    Dedicated Memory: 241 MB
    Shared Memory: 767 MB
    Current Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (75Hz)
Monitor: HP w17e Wide LCD Monitor

so be honest, guys. Will I have problems running AoC or will I be good to go when the postman rings twice?

    thanks!!!

You should be good to go. My computer is much older and decrepit than yours and it can run the game, albeit at terrible FPS. I'm actually looking to upgrade to something not much better than you have so you should be good. You might not be able to run the game at a really high level of quality without killing your FPS but you can definately play.

Your CPU is more than enough, your ram is sufficiant, and your video card is more than enough to run the game smoothly on mid to lower settings. If you want to push the game into the higher graphics, you'll want another 2 gigs of ram and a better video card like an 8800GT, but I would reccomend you run the game and see how you like it at its current performance before you upgrade. You may like it just fine the way it is.

But yes, your PC will definately be able to run the game.

You will be able to run it just fine, at low settings though. I had a 8600 gt and COULD run the game at medium settings, but I had a pretty low framerate. The game worked great at low settings.

I recently upgraded to a 8800 gt and it made a WORLD of difference. In my opinion, I think people are really selling themselves short and missing out on the spectacular visuals when not being able to run in high settings. I realize people don't have extra money lying around, but if you can save up your pennies for a better video card...do it.
