My fiance and I are trying out a 14 day free trial for City Of Heroes. Anyone want to join us? I think that we are going to be on the Freedom server. I think.

I was also thinking of trying out another free trial of Pirates of the Burning Sea since someone told me it was good, I'm skeptical but the trial is free so why not?

I played COH/COV since lauch for about 3 1/2 years... Very fun game hope you enjoy it..

I probably will. Maybe it will pull me out of my MMO rut? lol All the console games we have right now kinda bore me.

Iam way into superhero stuff so being able to create my own and change up the costumes was really fun. Also Superspeed and Superjump are really fun

A very good friend of mine played CoH with me for about 6 months. This was back at release, and it's gotten better since, but it used to be a horrible painful eye-gouging grind post 30, so we'd bascially have a contest each night to see who could make up the craziest costume with bizarre backstory. We'd then run around the newbie area, acting comic-book level heroic with grand gestures and poses. Was fun for far longer than you'd think.

That said, CoH is a solid game, and offers the most avatar configuration of any game out today, which is saying something since it's like 5 years old. However, CoH has suffered a bit in tuning and the hero side isn't the pure bottled fun it used to be. Now CoV, the villian side...that's a whole other ballgame. The devs really outdid themselves there. Besides more robust character classes (pretty much every one designed to solo), the quests(missions) are more intense, different (missions use randomly generated playfields, you'll see lots of repeats), and entertaining than the hero side. CoV also has pop culture references, for those who enjoyed that in WoW. The new, well not new *now* but new in terms of age, invention system really brings back the power of the heros/villians that they had before tuning nerfs.

It's a solid game, but it's not one you really want to plant your butt and play for 8 hours at a time, like others. It really shines when you play smaller sessions (like a few hours). CoX's progression mode is basically where LoTRO's incrimental deed system comes from, if you trace the pattern. I went back and played the game for a month around a year ago because I was asked to and really enjoyed my villian. I had a hard time playing my heroes as they'd been compeltely revamped from when I played. Most of the villian classes were simple to start up and run. Mastermind was my fav.

I played COH for a few months and really enjoyed it. I on;y quit playing when I got into the LOTRO beta and started spending most of my time there. I mostly played the hero side though and only just dabbled inthe villian side of things. I quit just before they introduced the invention (crafting) system so I haven't tried any of that. I think my charecters were on the Liberty server if I remember right.

I would rather play CoV then the hero side anyway. My fiance actually has the CoV game. I just never played it. So if I decide to play it for a while, I'll play the villain side since that is more my cup of tea.

We are big fans of the X men* so any chance we have to act like a being with super powers we'll take.

We've been watching the old animated X men series. Anyone else remember that? It's kinda cheesy now. But back when I was little, it was the shit. lol

If you have CoV, you should have CoH. I only bought CoH (at release) and when I went back for my "Month of Hero" I had CoV.

CoH is much prettier, as you would expect. You should at least sample it to see, but I liked the villian story arcs much much more. Plus you get temporary travel power stuff at like level 5 that lasted me well past when I got my own!

I'm a huge X-Men fan as well and Gambit has always been my favorite so I was excited when I heard he was going to be in this new movie. I also think it's awesome that Deadpool's in there too. He's another of my favorites.
