UGH this guys app made me shudder and his follow up made me shudder even more...
yes i may be bleeding heart anti-shooting fluffy bunny/deer things but i accept that its perfectly acceptable in some cultures..but i got a degree of relish from this that was...hmm uhh words fail me...going to stop now feel queasy

yeah hunting isnt for everyone, me i was 16 years old when i found that out, had a big buck a hair trigger away from being dead, dad right there, couldnt do it, not my style, however the skills i learned from him are enough to know that if it all goes to hell and its a choice of killing the deer or my family starving, i know how to do it Hunting was a neccessity not that long ago.

kaotic seemed on the verge of giving up so if your reading this post a reply on some of the points that have been brought up, dont give up and worst that could happen is its put to a vote

Ok just re-read the posts just in case id been unfair with my first reaction and i was letting the whole hunting stuff influence me too much (thank god they banned fox hunting here..what was that famous saying..oh yes "the unspeakable in persuit of the uneatable" Oscar Wilde i think heh...

Now I couldnt make the meeting (was 3am here) but agree with Dao that if the first post is really bad..so bad and thin that it is obvious that they either

A) lied about reading the examples or
B) read them but still didnt care enough about getting in our guild to put the effort in, then they had better have a very good excuse for their first app and be bloody brilliant in any follow up.

I dont get a good vibe at all from anything i have read so far and see nothing to mitigate the disaster of the fist app so sorry and i hate being the bad guy, but thumbs down here.

Its the whole ohh this is fun killing stuff, lets kill more more thing i dont get. Id never not vote for someone just cos they liked hunting though im not that narrow minded i hope!

What really gripes me is that because i really cared about joining this guild i spent ages filling out my app as did many others (still remember how good Tasia's was for instance).
My hubs still teases me about how long i took and even though he was family and pretty much guaranteed to get in he still felt he should make an effort with his app so people could get a feel of who he was.

I think everyone should take that care with their initial app too as it shows a good degree of how much a person really wants in.
Not saying all apps should be funny/witty/clever or whatever, i know some people arnt good at filling out forms but i would at least like to see some EFFORT expended at the very least.

thats why we have the app process, everyone has different standards coming from different directions i'm happy if we are hard on our less than admirable apps, if you werent you wouldnt care

there is a difference between being rude and being hard on someone and i havent seen any rudeness in a long long time

I have to go with Dao and Zendaria on this one. After listening in on some vent discussion regarding his app I was really turned off. From what I heard he joined another guild pretty much on a whim and after 2 hours decided they were "going nowhere". To me the lack of caring in the application, lack of effort towards selecting a guild and, lack of commitment once making a decision makes me feel he would not be a good fit.

Sorry but for the first time I have to thumbs down.

Well the app was sparse, it's true, but his followup was good. Solana said she had grouped with him and he was a nice guy. Hunting is ok with me if done for food or to weed out overpopulations and not done capriciously. We have packs of coyotes here killing peoples' cats and dogs (large dogs .. recently a golden retriever) ... it will go on until a child is killed and then even the people who want to "protect" wildlife will want the coyote population reduced. I live in Connecticut btw so coyotes are not even native to the area, but we have huge packs of them. So, to make a long story short .. hunters have their place and are useful.

I think we should give this guy a chance. Maybe he joined a guild by accident (it's happened to me in games ... people spam invites while you are fighting and bang you are in before you know it) ... maybe he just joined to see what it was like ... not everyone sifts through forums looking ... and from looking at his followup I doubt he has time to do that.

Anyway ... peace .. I think we should give him a chance ... The game has been active now for months ... there will be alot of good people who tried a guild before deciding it didnt fit their needs and decide to do the research to find a better one. Don't think that is a valid reason to reject someone.

I don't know this fellow but just thought I saw a trend here and wanted to put my 2 cents in. I'd vote give him a chance.

I'm going to stand by my original statement. I know this guy is trying hard (he's sent tells to me twice when I was offline), but at the end of the day I don't think the fit is right here. His app was terrible, his follow-up didn't win me over, and frankly? His chat with Ash didn't do him any favors in my book.

I understand that I tend to be on the hard side as far as this clan and app recruitment goes, but I really, really think we need to ask more of our applicants than whether or not they can type words on a page, and add more words on a page when we ask them to. The truth is, some people are just not going to fit here. Some people may seem like okay folks, but we don't never every "okay" person that comes to our door hat in hand.

We have some really great people here, and I just don't feel this compulsion to "give every new kid his shot." I've stifled my gut instinct on several HFC applications before, and I've almost universally come to regret it afterward.

I'm sure Kaotic is a fine enough person in his own way. I just don't think there's a nexus here between him and the Hammerfists.
