About a year ago I was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a very rare type of blood cancer which requires me to get a blood transfusion about every two weeks. Without it I get very fatigued and this rendered me unable to do my job or to take the field and fight for my ladies honor. Much of my life has been turned upside down and I find that I must make some rather drastic adjustments. Physical activity has been cut back considerably and I have turned to these MMO's to get my "slay" on. I have also taken up photography to try to get me out of the house so I don't drive my wife Sarah and kids (Connor-12, Kenyon-9, and Molly-6) crazy. I am trying my best to LIVE my life and not let this dark monster get the best of me. So far I am coming out on top, and I mean to keep it that way!

Thank you for sharing this sensitive and personal information with us. I can say I understand very well what you're dealing with as my mother also has this disease as a more aggressive form known as Myelodysplasia. Diagnosed June of '07 they gave her 6 months, but stubborn as my mom is she's still holding her own. As many of my family members will agree and joke with my mother, it's a running joke with us and her that she's "too stubborn to die." Those who've known my mother well would whole-heartedly agree!

She's in her 70's and lives with Jade (wife) and I so we can take care of her, until she passes. She's currently receiving 2 units of blood, twice a week now and has had a total of 296 transfusions to date. Much like yourself my mother has no intentions of just sitting idle, without putting up a damn good fight. She still maintains an active life (mixed in with some days of heavy fatigue), and does any normal activities other healthy persons her age would do, as long as she gets "refueled" as her and I joke about.

As for your application, you get a definite thumbs up from me. Very well done. Good luck to you as we roll on towards the 24hr mark.

You get a big ol from me. I feel for you on your ailment. Im adopted and no idea of my biological medical history. Short of it is, i was diagnosed with Crohns Disease and i just turned 35. Who knows what else could be waiting for me down the line eh?

This is an excellant example application that people should follow. I am glad that you have chosen the path to live rather than the other way, your inner strength speaks volumes of your character. I definately agree that its all about the adventure than just the trip.
