A) I saw a recruitment post on the AoC official forums. I liked what I saw and I came to check it out!

A) Nope!

A) No, this is my first!

Q) What class and level are you? If you're not playing yet, what class do you intend to conquer Hyboria with?
A) My main character, Xaellithyr, is a level 9 crazed-lunatic curmudgeon*, or some might call him a Demonologist, it depends who you ask, really. I just started playing yesterday, and I've played many different classes up to around level 9 and the Demonologist is the one that I love the most, so I'm sticking with him!

*[bonus points should be awarded for actually using the word "curmudgeon" in a guild application]

Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) I feel that I have a well-developed sense of humor. Since I wasn't a stud-muffin* in High School, I relied largely on humor to get girls to talk to me. I love nothing more than laughing and joking with friends. My wife often thinks that I'm never serious enough. I realize it's impossible to convince anyone that I can be humorous with just a few sentences, so I hope to convince you later when I get to know everyone =)

Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) I've been playing MMO's for a while now, somewhere in the range of 12 years. I started in the mid-90's playing MUDs, anyone remember those? Text-only adventure games, where you actually had to type "get sword", "kill rabbit", "loot all from corpse", etc. I played those for several years until Everquest came out. When I first saw EQ, I thought, "Wow, a MUD with graphics! Sweet!" and nerdgasmed all over myself. I played EQ until EQ2 went live, and have been playing that ever since. My wife also plays and we often go quest-grinding together on the Crushbone server.

Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other AoC guilds? [let us know!]
A) The description of your guild really stood out to me, and when I read it, I realized that it was everything I was looking for. I really like that it's a mature 18+ guild, as I tire quickly of the L337-lings. I'm a married, full time student so I don't have time to play for countless hours, however the time I do have I want to spend with friends doing constructive things. This guild looks like it has a lot of people whom I'd get along with and I really want to make new friends in this great game!

Q) What is your forum name on the official AoC forums?
A) I lurk around there but haven't registered yet. When I do, it will be Xaellithyr.

Q) Tell us a tidbit or two about you, outside of gaming. Maybe about your job, your hobbies, maybe what sports you like to play. Anything you'd like to share.
A) As I said earlier, I'm a full time student. Currently I'm a senior at California State University Northridge and am finishing up my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. I'm planning in specializing in Networking and Network Security. My wife and I have been married for nearly 5 years, she's working on a degree in Graphic Design. We have two very naught kitties which we treat as our babies since we don't have children yet.
When I'm not geekin' it up on the computer, I play table-top war games such as Warhammer. Part of the hobby is building and painting your own miniature soldiers, which I enjoy very much. I also have a small internet business where I sell models I paint on eBay as well as doing commissioned paintjobs.
I love reading Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror novels. Right now I'm reading the Dune series, just finished Dune Messiah. My alltime favorite Fantasy novels are the Dragonlance series, specifically those written by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weiss. As far as Horror is concerned, I love Dean Koontz's work! I never knew one could get actually scared by reading a book!

Looks like a great application. I also love the DragonLance books. Those are my favorite authors so far. You should try Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth) and/or George R.R. Martin (Ice and Fire). I also played MUD's and enjoyed them greatly.

Pretty well written application. Wrothgar mentioned a couple of great fantasy series. I would humbly like to add the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. It gets a bad rap, because it's so long and it seems like he drew it out a lot. But, I really enjoyed it.

Also, sports are very important to me. Are you a sports-minded kind of guy? What's your sport? Favorite teams?

Try Piers Anthony and the Incarnations of Immortality series if you havent already..great read especialy On A Pale Horse.

@Wrothgar: Yes! A fellow MUD player! Although troublesome and tedious, those were some of my favorite memories on online gaming!
@Rhyzen: My favorite sport is hockey, it's about the only sport I like to watch that isn't a playoff/finals game. [it's probably because the players fight a lot, and brawling is part of the game.] Favorite team is NJ Devils, followed closely by the Avalanche and Penguins. I also really like watching World Cup Soccer [go Poland!] and Superbowl games.

Things are going well for me ingame so far, I had a couple hours to play last night and got my Demonologist to level 13. I'm really having fun with this character. I tried to make him look similar to the picture of the Demonologist in the class descriptions of the AoC game manual, so I made him look old, frail, slightly crazy but covered in hellish runes that look like demons themselves carved into him. I noticed that nearly every character I saw running to and from Tortage was either a hot chick, or a beefed up Schwarzeneggar clone, is this the case everywhere else too? What kinds of things do you do to make your character stand out in AoC?
