Q) Have you read our Code of Conduct and Forum Rules?
A) I have read and understand the codes of conduct. I also read the section -not- in the code on double guilding. I'm inclined to agree with this position and its one of the primary attractors as far as the code of conduct goes. I think that this practice detracts from ones commitment to a guild as it creates numerous conflicts of interest and time managememnt issues.

Q) Are you at least 18+ years of age? [yes, no, actual age is optional]
A) I am an archaic 29 years of age (the big 30 looms very close though)

Q) What region do you live in? [City and State is fine.]
A) If hell had an armpit that was hot and sweaty for half the year, and a frozen iceblock the other half, Maine would probably be it. Though I live on the coast so the sea alleviates some of the temperature extremes

Q) Gender:
A) Male, last I checked.

Q) Have you read at least one of our example applications? [this is highly recommended]
A) I read all four examples at the bottom of the approved section

Q) Do you have any relatives or friends currently in the guild, or were you recruited by someone? If so, who?
A) I don't currently know anyone in the guild other than the person who reccomended me, so if I'm accepted you can all blame Tasia

Q)Forum name: [The name you will be registering here]
A) Chuddox

Q) Current character name(s): [blank if none]
A) I suffer from TMCS, Too Many Characters Syndrome. I filled my 8 allotted character slots my first weekend. since this is a new game I haven't settled precisely on what I'm going to play. I like meleers for soloing, but I think the Ranger actually holds more appeal for me in group play. The three I've spent the most time on and am thusfar the most interested in are Pyrael, Chulain, and Maedorian.

Q) How did you hear about us: [friend, another member, forum, google, other mmo's, etc]
A) Again, blame Tasia. I'm not one to browse forums much anymore (I'll get into that later) so I take a much more discreet and personal approach to shopping for a guild. I brought it up in a conversation with her and she recommended you.

Q) Are you currently in any other Age of Conan guilds? Please tell us your reason for wanting to leave if you answered yes.
A) I'm not currently in a guild. I was in one for all of 30 minutes when I accidently mistook a guild invite for a group invite. It didn't take long to decide that it was not for me Wink

Q) Have you applied to any other Age of Conan guilds? Please tell us the status of your application if you answered yes.
A) I haven't applied to any other guilds, since I don't take the "shotgun" approach to looking for one

Q) What class and level are you? If you're not playing yet, what class do you intend to conquer Hyboria with?
A) You name it, I've tried it. At least to level 20. Currently I like the Guardian, Conquerer, and Ranger classes. They are levels 24, 22, and 15 respectively. I just got the game and I've been holding back till a friend of mine gets back from military drill in a week then we'll probably spend a lot of time levelling together. Expect levels quickly thereafter

Q) We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
A) Sarcastic and Cynical. Sometimes people think I'm grumpy so I'm careful to tell them shortly thereafter "I'm just messing with you". You can't do my line of work unless you are either very well adjusted with a good sense of humor, a drunk, or a little crazy. I have a great sense of irony, but I can't tolerate whiners.

Q) What other MMO's have you played if any: [Acquired a few skills from some other games eh? Tell us about them]
A) A shorter list might be what I haven't played. I won't profess to being "73h 1337 5h17". But I know my way around an MMO in just about every aspect. I played a couple games on and off for while, but my first full time commitment was EQ2. I had Kerra Monk, an Wood elf Ranger and a Wood elf Swashy. I really forged a core in DPSing, including aggro management while playing this game. I only dabbled in other aspects like tanking, but never did any full blown raiding with any classes other than my DPS. I also played the EQ2 PvP servers when they first opened, it was my first taste of worldwide PvP. I have to say I was hooked and immediately gave up my raid toons for my world PvP play. I left shortly thereafter due to some issues stemming from both a need to conserve RL loot (yes I've played WAY too long, I now catagorically refer to cash as loot...sue me) and a lack of interest since several of my play buddies had moved on, moved away, or run into similar financial troubles.
I re-entered the game community a short time later by playing a small, indie produced MMO that was, at the time, Free to play. I played this game for quite some time before I was finally made a part of the developement team.. I also had a brief run with SWG but didn't like it so I gave my account to a friend.
Also during this time another friend of mine talked me into playing WoW. I've played that right up until recently because, despite my many criticisms of the game, its "approachable". There isn't a toon in my 2 years of WoW I haven't played. My favorites, still, have to be Hunters. I play (if I do say so myself) excellent DPS and CC. I played LOTRO and GW briefly as well, but didn't stay with them as they weren't my "thing".

Q) What makes you want to join us over some of the other AoC guilds? [let us know!]
A) Well, I don't -know- any of the other AoC guilds, but I was impressed with my first conversation with Tasia. She apologized for "slow typing" because she was feeding her infant. sha also stated that the guild was one where a lot of people had lives, and (or) kids. I think this is a good fit, as I myself have a 2 year old boy, and am finally hopeful I'll have found a guild where if I have a "tantrum emergency" in the middle of a raid some tween isn't going to ignorantly spout "Use birth control next time, Nub" just because we have to wait a few minutes

Q) What is your forum name on the official AoC forums?
A) Chuddox, on the official AoC forums, but I never go there. I've avoided official game forums for quite some time due my intolerance toward whiners and complainers, I tend to get banned for being less than diplomatic in my approach to dealing with drama queens.

Q) Tell us a tidbit or two about you, outside of gaming. Maybe about your job, your hobbies, maybe what sports you like to play. Anything you'd like to share.
A) In case you've read this far and haven't got the hint, I can be very verbose. I've worked for the local county sheriff's office for 2 years and bit (And yes, I love donuts).I work a very convoluted schedule which switches between weekends and weekdays making long term, regular scheduling an impossibility at best. I've been married for 7 years to a wonderful woman who tolerates my addiction to video games only because she is a fanatical Xbox player and maintains an active LOTRO account herself. My son, Conan (not kidding), is 2 and quite possibly the smartest cherub I know. He has already mastered the use of most of the house's electrical appliances that he's allowed to touch (Computers, DVD player, etc) and several (he knows) hes not allowed to.. We read to him nightly. He is currently on The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Though I hope he takes an interest (much) later in authors like Tolkien, R.E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft like his "old" dad.
Outside of work and the kid. I don't do a lot other than game. I work nights, and even on my "days" off, I'm entirely nocturnal and around here that means you aren't left with many options. The only thing open is a hand full of convenience stores, and the bars till 1pm. Needless to say I easily put in 20+ hours a week into my gaming (and I have the physique to prove it). I record, engineer, and produce sound effects and music sometimes as a hobby. I worked for a small indie game company for a while until recently when they went through programming devs so fast I got tired of writing the same programming requests and emailing them 3 times inside of a month. I like to listen to Goth, Doom, Death, and Symphonic Metal. I compose and record Classical Orchestra when the whim strikes but I wouldn't go so far as to call any of my as anything other than mediocre at best. I was a weightlifter and martial artist bank in my "young punk" days, and I hold belts int Shoto-Kan Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and have studied Medieval Broadsword fighting from a guy who worked as a film studio fight trainer (thats was most fun I've ever had getting hit with metal)

Please remember to register here on these forums.
A)"What is the thing I should after I fill out this application" Alex?

Q) Do you have any questions for us?
A) "How many guards does it take to push an inmate down the stairs?" None. He fell.

On a serious note I'm interested in the guilds demographics as far as what the guild needs for membership types. I'm not fond of playing something I really despise, but I'm familiar enough with all the traditional MMOG roles that I'm not above stepping into something else if its really needed. I've also had no exposure to the Crafting system yet so before I begin I'm interested in knowing what the guild might prefer for professions before I go and invest a ton of time in something your gonna say "gee we have a billion of those already, what we really needed was -this-". Other than that, wind me up, point me at an instance, or an enemy player and let me go....

I was sure you were going to say New Jersey!

Got to chatting with this guy after me mouthing off in the new (and now disabled) Aquilonia channel after all the spammy asshats logged on and ruined the beautiful 30 seconds that it was used for LFG. Right off the bat I insulted him by making a "kids need to go back to WOW" comment which got our conversation going. We had a nice chat, he seems like a mature player, joked around with me and he doesn't even know how boobalicious my character is!

Good luck on your app. Hope to see you in guild soon!

Ya im inclined to agree with Tasia. Well thought out app and showed you put effort into it which is nice to see.

Here's the thing with classes. The benefit of being a little larger of a guild is we never really run into the problem of "needing" people to play a certain class. Just looking over the guild roster we have an abundance of tanks, healers and dps to choose from. So play what you like not what anyone else likes. If you enjoy it you'll have no problems finding a group in game. And since it seems you've somewhat narrowed it down to 3 classes stick with whatever floats your boat.

All in all thanks for the app and a Thumbs Up from me for sure.

Well your application was beautifully full. That's a great sign to me. I'm a big talker too. If you join and like to use Vent, you'll notice a lot of our guys and gals are big talkers. The guild chat is almost always buzzing with conversations as well.

You wont have to worry about not finding guild members online throughout the day or night. We have a very mixed population of people who work days, eves, and mids. We also have some brothers and sisters from across the big pond.

I work for a Sheriff's Office also and I loved your joke at the end. It's so true. Not that that actually ever happens......*cough* never.

I'm giving this app the good ol' Thumbs Up .

Like Evil said we don't really have classes that are needed above anything else atm. As for crafting it's kinda the same story. The only thing different is that this story is broken since it's taking forever to get crafting to work properly. Just research and decide which profession you'd rather work at. Mainly we need gatherers more than we need producers but we don't pressure anyone into gathering if they don't want to.

P.S. What indie game company did you work for if you don't mind me asking?

I'm a little embarrassed to say since the project was never completed and looks completely half assed, but Wurmonline.com credits me for thier sound effects (all 63 they implemented of the 1400 I had mapped for them). The sound engine was mid- revision but they change client developers faster than you can say boo. We were working on a deterministic sound engine for the game since it used to use direct server side prompts to tell the client when certain things had to happen, like playing an animation or sound effect. while this is pretty secure by not letting the client have too much info at once its not foolproof plus its horribly innefficient to boot, so me and (one of) the client lead were working on setting up some things to run off a stream of Core data that the server sends to every client.

Ahhh another fellow TMCS sufferer..perhaps we should start a chapter? Certainly find no shortage of members in this guild!

Really enjoyed reading your app, great choice of books to read your young one I read CS Lewis to both my daughters (well partly because i wanted to read them again myself) Wink and they loved them.

Good luck with your app and hope to see you online with us soon

Cheers
